. . .

What's this???? Bad economy, currency devaluation and budget cuts, resulting in creating "mini" choppers? And preparing for fighting the FIRST world war (instead of the 3rd one)? The above look like the first generation of mini flying helicopters....like right after the invention of the single propeller plane by the Right brothers  :enjoy:

@gambit @Solomon2 @F-22Raptor : you boys know what are these things? Can't take on the US by force, let's do it through so much labor? Kungfo combat????

. .
Gyrocopters. See 'You Only Live Twice'.

Going to take over an American carrier ?

How to take over something already sunk ?

8000 of US helicopters downed in Vietnam War.
No shield ?
Do you know how many of these would be downed in any conflict? easy target for rifle.

This could be a good idea for affordable transportation and scouting.

The US military discovered that its F-16s, F-15s, A-10s, Hornets, Super Hornets, & bomber planes were too expensive for bombing ragtag rebels in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, & other nations. Then the US military developed drones for cheap airstrikes.

The US military also learned the hard way that cheap IEDs made by ragtag rebels could damage or destroy expensive hummers, tanks, supply trucks, and other expensive land vehicles. The casualty was a much worse problem. Then the US military tried to use helicopters instead of land vehicles for transportation and simple scouting missions, but the US military's helicopters were too expensive to replace its land vehicles.

With drones and simple helicopters, China's military could efficiently fight against ragtag rebels and cheap IEDs.

You are a little bit too excited. Like everything else, a gyrocopter may find a place in today's warfare, even in 3rd world war, it certainly faster than a motorcycle, and it can be put on the bed of a pickup truck. By the way, every fixed wing airplane flying today is a variation of Wright's Bothers' 1903 invention. :D:D

I dont see the point of using this.

As scout helicopter it depends on your eye sight... then a small to medium helicopter drone would do the same maybe even cheaper and safer and stealthier(sound, visibility) against the enemy.

What is this than? Human attack heli? no!

Mini-Transport-Heli? Too small to tranport efficient, too big to be significant less visible and slow as medium transport heli. Also 0 pretection. If you got spotted you are dead.

Maybe this a zerg rush tactic?!?!?! That would be very poor :(

OR a human meat-shield for expensiv Z-10 Attack-Heli? poor too.

Whats its purpose? Help me.

Or this is just a selfish corrupt project by some military officer/general.

good good

It's reasonable for using them against their people. For war, No.

That's your sour grape opinion, which is not based on facts. Drones have proven their worth in efficiently bombing ragtag rebels in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, etc.

These ragtag rebels lack an air force and effective ground-to-air weapons, unless they are given portable missile systems from NATO & its partners (Saudi Arabia & Israel), which is what happened with ISIS. Anyhow, ragtag rebels who lack air defense have a tough time shooting down helicopters and fixed-wing airplanes. See how the US military infrequently lost airplanes to ragtag rebels in the Middle East and Africa, but the US military lost a lot more hummers, tanks, supply trucks, and other land vehicles, which also resulted in human casualties.

The US military could not replace its vulnerable land vehicles with helicopters, because its helicopters were too expensive. The US military could have solved this problem with affordable helicopters.

Use the drones for affordable airstrikes and scouting. Use the affordable helicopters for simple troop movements and scouting.

In this situation, the J-20, J-11, J-10, Y-20, Z-18, Ka-31, Z-9, Z-10, Z-19, and Z-8 are overkill and way too expensive.
