PIA seek to purchase 10 A-320 Aircrafts

October 13, 2011 - According to SAMAA news channel a Boeing airliner operating PIA flight PK-1224 was inspected by a safety team at Jeddah Airport.

The safety team took notice of inoperative emergency lights of aircraft cabin. There's possibility of imposition of fine on PIA or blocking of this particular aircraft from operating Hajj flights, according to the news channel.

It's not clear whether it's one of PIA's own Boeing 747 or Boeing 777 aircraft or a Boeing 747 leased from Hellenic Imperial Airways operating PIA Hajj flights.

The team also expressed dissatisfaction because flight's cabin crew did not have some vaccination certificate.

Hajj pilgrims are required to have vaccination against various diseases and maybe same sort of steps are required for cabin crew of Hajj flights for crew's own health and safety ?

Yet another low for PIA.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is seeking two Boeing 737 or Airbus A320 or Airbus A321 airliners on lease on Aircraft, Complete Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance (ACMI) basis for a period of three months starting November 1, 2011. PIA will prefer sister aircraft from same source.

I think PIA will also give tender notice in this regard in local newspapers.

This appears to be short term solution to overcome shortage of aircraft faced by PIA these days as reported by local news media.

So, I think that these aircraft on lease are much more better than buying those A320's.

Please Please don't give PIA any money to buy anything! Let them go bust! None of it's employees from the baggage handlers to the Managers deserve to work for a company that represents Pakistan...........all they do is steal passenger's stuff, open their bags, harass them...and what not! Just let it go bust!

Baggage handlers are usually of another company i think.
