Hey, it is your choice. If you want to get a G5 instead of a DSLR, it is fine by me, if those types of cameras work for the type of photography you have in mind. I use my iPhone camera all the time, in addition to a pocket camera, plus the DSLRs. Large aperture lenses and sensors have thier own charms.

@VCheng can you list your equipment for dslr. I am somewhat(still consider myself a newbie) into photography as well. Here is what I have;

• Pentax 24-70 f2.8
• Pentax 31mm f1.8 Limited

I have two Nikons, a D7000, and a D3X, plus several lenses for each. The two flashes I use are SB700 and SB900, with a Creative Lighting System when needed. I also have a studio lighting setup for portraits plus the usual accessories.

Impressive!! My interests are mostly in landscape and outdoor casual photography. My flash does not get used that much to be honest considering my usage pattern. Although I have used flashes sometime in outdoor scenarios too.

I generally do not use a flash, and even then mostly for fill-in purposes. For macros I might uses several units, depending on the subject.

Need to invest some in for Macros. Me being a pentaxian, options are limited.

Get a 105 if you can, and a ring flash or equivalent.

105 is their slightly older lens not hd coated. The slightly newer option there is 100mm. Ring flash definitely

The 100 with coating is probably the better lens without much loss of focal length.

Traveling abroad first week of April and plan is to get the camera BEFORE i go!
Went to Lahore twice but first it was Sunday and second time it was 23rd March. Just overlooked this! The market was closed. May buy from Faisalabad now, have to!

Got it! At last.

Upgraded to D7200 instead of the planned D5600 though. I hope it will be better as the internet said.

The D7200 is a semi-professional level camera and will serve you well. Good choice!
