People who lie about being in the military.

I recall when I fought in World War 2. I was a general in the US army and we mowed down them Nazis and Italians and Japanese with our machine guns like they were bottles on a shooting fence. We were the most feared group in this man's army. Sadly, somebody forgot to record my name in the military records and that dawg Dwight took all the credit for my hard work damnit.

In Pakistan you are charged under the Manual of Pakistan Military Law (MPML) for impersonating a military person. In other words you can end up in some serious shit!

We have huge amount of these guys on the Internet even in the real world with fake uniforms. But they're easily caught. I saw many guys on Facebook claiming to be Pakistani Military Personnel even a guy posing to be ISI (Intelligence) Officer lol.

lol I am one of the faker, according to the Chinese member here (The claim is ranging from floor mopping private to, actually I forgot...)

anyway, it's easy to catch these "Fake Military Personnel" A lot of them like to brag about or glorify their military service and a lot of them always talk about superficial topic and would not go deep down into service (Not talking about classified stuff) They talk a lot about some easy/simple thing (like Rank structure or Regimental/Brigade information) and those people will go after other and correct them, vet or no vet, when these people started to misquote or make mistake on some tiny things (such as addressing Sergeant/NCO as Sir and so on) When actual service member don't really care about when we are civvies.

Most of these people get caught quite easy, and I have met one of these "Faker" on another forum, who claimed to be (or was ) a US Marine living in Australia, with Darwin having been hosting a Marine Regiment, it would not be that suspicious, but when he start talking, you know he is a faker. He got exposed for not knowing what is CAC.

The hardest to catch is those who actually serve but ballooned their service, that you will need to know one's service record, although it can be search in various mean but mostly people don't really dig that deep unless that's your job (like CID or some group that aimed to catch these people)

In reality, military service are seldom talked about within the Military Circle, one reason is military service is not anything that glorious, especially when you have to endure hardship to get to that level, you would want to forget instead of keep talking about it and keep reminding yourself on it. Two. The Military Experience is almost the same across a whole wide range of ex-servicemen, what the other go thru I have went thru, and what I went thru the other could have, and if you talk to a person who never serve before, they won't understand and thus, you won't talk to people who did not serve about it, and you would not talk to people who served about it, in short, you don't tell anyone nothing.

There are service laws, at least in Indian sub-continent, that do not permit public discussion/discourse by active service personnel and the same is enforced quite strictly, for if discovered, the repercussions are quite severe.

However, few are active on this forum itself, and like @Oscar mentioned, those masquerading as one, get caught quite quickly.

unless you are talking about Classified stuff, everything is open within the US military. Not too much classified stuff to begin with actually, and classified stuff also do have a time stamp on it, so it's status would expire as time goes by.

I can send you a field manual on Counter-Intelligence technique over the internet, and you can actually train as one by one of the US military authorised trainer, but you won't get trade secret like tradecraft and station code online, those are classified.

Well, not too sure about rules in the subcontinent. But in the US, we can talk about almost everything. As long as they do not disclose operational procedure or secrets.

And lol, that was only one part of the field manuals, I can dig up my computer and find some more.

And no I am not completely back, I am semi-retired, just saw something on PDF and decided to drop some line on it.

Well, we were forced to open up on national television, I guess the fact that US and a few Western Country allows reporter to attach deep into units and join them in Operation and put it onto your TV set at home is something you won't see in India or any subcontinent countries.

I sometime admire you guys when you can hide military operation from the public, having gag order on service member, the ability to not allowing the service member to discuss military operation. Here, we will need to hide behind confidential agreement under the National Security clause by the DoD, and it don't actually work sometime. A friend of mine was killed in Iraq after being ambushed in his own HQ, the people who kill my friend brought US Uniform from the internet and learn the US operating procedure, term and down to ID Card from the public domain and fool the Iraqi Guard that was putting road block on the place. There are no reason these Iraqi did not let these insurgent ambush team in, they were led by a foreigner (Highly Likely Chechen), spoke English, Dress like a soldier and talk like a soldier, and 8 people died because these people learn how we operate by watching TVs and trolling through public domain.

I guess it is about how military operate in different nation, here, we have a highly visible operating wing and again, unless a piece of info were deemed TS/SCI, people actually can demand that piece of information and you have to give it to them. Only classified stuff is real time location of unit, comm-code, trade secret and so on.

And lol, yeah, I just finished my MPhil, so I got some time on my hand to kill, been trying to catch up with latest TV episode, but meh, not anything good on TV now...
