What's new

People try to storm Army camp after ‘rape’, ‘molestations’ by jawans in Assam

.
I hope results would come in next decade. Let's keep our fingers cross.

Obviously when you have events after events after events like this then you need inquiries and laws. Nothing new here. :)

You would make a great law student

First the crime will be established and if the Jawan has really done then i think victims might get compensation from the State Government.

Yes. But the question is which court? Would be interesting to know that

. . .
I think it would be military Tribunal.

I doubt that, because of the civilian. Especially if she lied about the rape (I dont want to blame anyone yet), she cant be put before a military tribunal.

Any law expert here? :P

Do you think that the victims havnt being taken to local hospital ? I am not saying that she will be put before military tribunal but saying that the case will be investigated by military tribunal depending on the reports and the testimonies of the victims given to the hospital staff etc.

You have a point there.. Some do indulge in false accusation to settle scores or for their own evil agenda .. But we have to face the fact that we live in country where women are still discriminated socially, politically and religiously ..Though we are far ahead of many developing countries in relation to women issues but we are still have a long way to go.. So naturally common folks get enraged when we hear of violence against women.
Yes. Getting enraged is natural but the law should take its course...not mob anger and slander. We should work and act objectively, not react like a pack of wolves. :)

A case was filed in the Dokmoka police station on April 8 alleging that some members of the 8 Jat Regiment had raped a woman and two young girls on April 6 in Parkopahar area, where the security forces had gone to conduct search operations.

Several social and political organisations also submitted a memorandum to the Union Home Minister through the Deputy Commissioner yesterday demanding immediate arrest of the Army personnel allegedly involved in the incident within 24 hours and withdrawal of Army from the area.

A meeting with Army officials and members of the civil society took place during the day. Expressing dissatisfaction with the meeting, member of the Karbi Human Rights Watch Pankaj Teron raised suspicions about the suicide.

“Our meeting with Army officials lasted only 10-15 minutes and this shows how serious they are about the matter,” Mr. Teron said.
