People for sale. Where lives are auctioned for $400

Libya was a prosperous country. There was real socialism - even better than in Scandinavia. And now there is slave trade, poverty, devastation, terrorist attacks, and hundreds of terrorist groups instead of the government.
Yes, it is become way better. The real dream country.

For the ruling clan, the previous Libya was indeed a dream country, but not for the thousands who disappeared. Besides, Libya sponsored terrorism and Gaddafi paid the price. The present mayhem is a direct result of his confrontation. Let us not forget that either when lamenting about what is going on in Libya now.

As @vostok said on the previous page, Libya during Gaddafi's guidance was a true socialist system - direct democracy in action.

Please read the below two threads to see how it was :

Also, there were some Libyans who were exiled or escaped during the pre-2011 government and many of those joined groups such as al-Qaeda prior to 2011 or during, supported of course by NATO.

How does Najam Sethi stand, politically??

Wikipedia says he is left-leaning, so how come he proposed the renaming??

There were many good things about Gaddafi's Libya, no doubt, but he paid the price for his disastrous foreign policies.

Well, from what I know, his Chad campaign was a disaster.

But he got involved in Lebanon, Ireland, Columbia and South Africa, and others I imagine. These didn't turn out to be so bad.

Lately, he was close advisor of Nawaz Sharif.

Oh, that explains it then.

I vaguely recall Nawaz's brother, Shahbaz, Chief Minister of Punjab, wanting to rename the stadium in 2011 during the height of the war.

Wikipedia says about Najam Sethi being left-leaning, but I suppose he is among the ones sold-out.

His involvement was far and wide. His sponsorship of terrorism contributed to his downfall.

Terrorism or support for liberation movements and revolutionaries?? :)

For NATO he was dangerous to be certain :

Of course he was free to pursue whatever policies he wanted. It is just that the other side was equally entitled to pursue their policies too. That is how international geopolitics works.

You are technically correct of course, but at some point one must stand back for a moment and ask - should I say that something is right just because 100 others are saying something or is that crowd wrong and I must take a step back and see that the truth is something else??

He was seen as symbol of defeat to the brain washing, which media of Europe and US had drilled in to the heads of its public.

I am correct, not just technically. One cannot pick and choose sides in international geopolitics on the basis of personal views.

It was a dream country for everybody except fooled by West "regime-fighters". I know that nurses from Ukraine went to Lybia and earned more than 1000 dollars on the hands with all living costs paid by state - and it was clean and absolutely safe place(in Ukraine nurses had 150 dollars at the time). I know many figures about the state that existed in its time - but who cares? It is history now, I bet people living there hardly believe 6 years ago they had social garanties, police, medical care and so on. Now they are living near pre-historic slave markets - and Western human rights fighters do not care.
