Pentagon Says Sexual Assault Reports Rose 58% at Service Schools

Only in your opinion which I can confidently say is in the minority. lol. Back to thread Gin ka Pakistan and loveicon made very valid points and I agree with them

Yes, I agree with you that my opinions are in a minority, but only because common sense seems to be in short supply here.

And I will continue to respect your right to agree with whomever you wish. All I can hope to do is present my points of view in the hope that some might actually learn something, if not most.

Back to the point, how was the therm "sexual assault" defined for the purposed of your report? How many of these were an unwanted touch of a hand, for example?

.
Probably there is no point of posting as it is western way of life.
 In your world, sexual assault is rape and the woman must provide four witnesses of the rape, and please spare me the argument that the witnesses requirement is 'not Islamic', I do not care if it is religious or not. In our world, sexual assault can range from touching to rape and we require/provide actual scientific evidences to prove them. This means while our society is not perfect, we sure do not see an exodus of women running into your society, do we?

You call that an 'exodus'? Buddy, I was stationed in the UK for three years: RAF Upper Heyford. Bicester, Banbury, and Oxford were my stomping grounds. Everyone knows the pub 'The Three Horseshoes' at the end of the road. I have friends in the UK who told me not to go back for a visit because the England I knew no longer exists because of the invasion of the ME-astern mentality, especially when it comes to women. I bet that part of your culture you love: The rape victim must provide four witnesses.

Your world teaches you that if something is not reported and recorded, then it does not exist. Data collection, statistics, and analysis of what was collected is discouraged in your world when it comes to social issues. Whereas in our society, we have people sitting around wondering how to collect data and quantify a known and/or suspected act that is abhorrent to society and is known to be hidden. That kind of societal self reflection and self criticisms is what make us a far better place for women than yours. Not perfect, just better.

Does this lecture have anything to do with "Pentagon Says Sexual Assault Reports Rose 58% at Service Schools"

Yes.

It shows an open society collecting and publishing data on an important social problem and trying to improve the situation, rather than other cultures where it is enough to pretend that a problem simply does not exist.

After all, one has to admit to a problem before one can study ways to reducing it.

This is a "thing" called:

SCIENCE. :D

How many years study it takes to admit - results improved by 58%

Well, that is why I asked for the definition of assault for this report.

If you actually care to think about the following excerpt aside from passing snide remarks, it will show you that action to improve those results is being carried out too, in addition to studies:

...........................

The Defense Department has two new policies to support victims of sexual assault, according to a press release accompanying the annual figures. Those who report incidents have the option to request an expedited transfer from their unit; and records of such assaults will be retained for as long as 50 years in some cases so victims may have access to them.

The annual report was mandated by Congress in 2007 after reported cases of sexual assaults at the military training schools in the 1990s and early part of this decade.

The Congress passed the law to require this, and unlike many other countries' laws to help women, this one is being actually implemented.

Imagine that!

Since we are so concerned about the safety of American women here all the time, why don't we ask the Afghan lady who now owns her own grocery store here in town?

I am sure she feels so scared here for her safety and specially of her two daughters, with all these drunk raving lunatic rednecks around her. That must be so scary for her. NOT.

Perhaps even more scary than her rape by a gang of Taliban, in front of her kids.

Perhaps even more scary than what happened to her in Pakistan. If I describe that, which is even more shameful than what the Taliban did to her, this post and even the thread will be closed, perhaps even earn me a ban.

Yes.

After all, she was brought here by the infidels, and now can make her own independent living with true dignity and honor.

Oh the horrors she faces here every day! (NOT!)

I bet she is so worried about her safety here compared to there.

Please note this is all on topic, since we are so worried about sexual violence in USA, right?

Western women converting to Islam

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIx8bh37YJE

The Muslim faith in under the spotlight again and this time its critics are wondering why more women in the west are embracing Islam than any other religion.

In their eyes, Islam is supposed to be a religion which oppresses and subjugate women, or that is what critics want everyone to think and the profiles of the new converts have them baffled.

According to figures from a multi faith group called faith matters, those most likely to convert to Islam are career women in their 20s and 30s

Rape victim can also provide material evidence i.e DNA, but of course your short intellect cannot understand this.
