Show me an official quote from Chinese officials that state they would shoot the plane down. Anything other than that is conjecture or propaganda. All China said was "she wouldn't dare" and that we will "respond". So until you can counter that then I'll just reject your claims.

China has the ability to shoot down the plane and to smash the US navy asymmetrically. It's not that hard. It's really the nukes that would be the issue which US will not use for such an event. Let's not kid ourselves. Your sanctions are meaningless too as they will certainly backfire against such a trade partner as China. China can also arm Iran and begin airstrikes on Taiwan. China needs a deterrent and the options are endless.
