Pemra to crackdown on Indian DTH, channels in Pakistan

I stopped watching Indian TV or for that matter any TV a long time back;)

Grew up watching PTV in Fazilka ... And Alpha Bravo Charlie was a favorite :enjoy:

Dumbass politicos.:suicide:
Alpha Bravo Charlie fans in India :o:

I still watch dramas every now and then and do check out Indian dramas every other week to see who is dead(no one dies)

I liked movie Amir of India

I am ok with foreign content in non prime time hours but prime time should be reserved for Pakistani content to promote our industry those new channels are airing old dramas to save money

They'll buy again. Indian soap operas are like drugs for housewives, and they are hooked to our drugs. :D

Tbh in the early 2000s women that I knew (in family and friends) used to watch Indian soaps a lot , but now barely anyone watches. There is so much domestic content plus content from Turkey, Mexico etc that Indian soaps although I am sure watched by some , are really not a big thing. Can't say the same about Bollywood as our movie industry is tiny in front of it but definitely as far as soaps are concerned, I for one don't see many people watching or discussing Indian soaps today.

I would say Wahhabi pushed the way of Islamising the country, and that killed our film industry, and was destroying our TV dramas. For those few years in between, people got hooked to Indian soaps, but when the whole wave of Pakistani dramas came in, people went back.

:fie: galat biyani hay yeh.

Indian dramas well better if I don't say anything about them.

Well she is kind if right Zia did destroy our industry and it was during that time period consumption of Indian content increased but recently improvement of content has again made it competitive

Mothers and daughters are of same age and crore patis make their bahus cook for gigantic family meals and the bahus do that after applying heavy makeup :D

My Dear friend DTH are bieng used only by cable operators not individual families, cable operators just wants to increase channel numbers to attract more customers and since most of the cable operators are registered with PEMRA it is very easy for PEMRA to control them

Ok..... I do not think we have access to any Pakistani channels.... May be one or 2 serials.........

In the past yes not anymore now Pakistani dramas have gained popularity last indian drama i watched from start to end was Bhaskar Bharti and last Indian movie i watched was Bajrangi it was nice
I am not against Indian content but if India can ban PTV i think we should put certain restrictions on foreign content ,particularly use of Indian ads by multinational companies who want to save some cash and a limit to foreign content
Some new channels air old dramas to save money it will force them to not be freeloaders and actually do projects of their own

Yeah, PTV is banned but do you allow the telecast of Doordarshan ?? well I don't think so. No one allows the national channel to be aired I think. :)

Not possible. Has been tried in the past and failed miserably. And in addition it is good for Pakistan to get exposure to progressive, liberal and productive Indian culture.
Sarcasm right?

You are scared!!!!! Even Russian RT and US channels are allowed in each other countries. Because they both belive in them. Have confidence in them

Sistan Balochistan shall be our new neighbour and it will border our Balochistan province :D

There is something for you to analyse. We will talk some time later... Running busy

But go through it ... Think it out. Am trying to get some views on it

Thanks

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has decided to crackdown on illegal Indian satellite dishes and content on Pakistani television channels and cable networks.

“Pemra will take strict action against all those TV Channels which have been continually violating the code of conduct,” Chairman Pemra Absar Alam said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday. “Only license-holder TV channels can telecast foreign content and Pakistani TV channels can air Indian content with less than 6% of total air time, starting October 15, 2016.” Any additional airtime for Indian or foreign content on local TV channels will result in legal action from Pemra, he added.

Alam informed that the measure being taken was intended to curb use of illegal Indian satellite dishes in Pakistan. “I urge the people to stop using illegal Indian dishes as it is in utter violation of the law and against the national interest.” He urged the Pakistani television channels and cable operators to voluntarily follow the set rules and regulations, failing which punitive action will be taken.

In response to a question, the chairman said that Pemra will get assistance from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), intelligence agencies and local police to effectively keep check on those violating the law.”The FIA will also be approached to ensure that the business of illegal Indian dishes is banned,” he added.

Alam said Pemra will write letters to chief ministers of the provinces and the Chairman Federal Bureau of Revenue on the matter. “Pemra has granted 45 days to the industry to stop illegal Indian content.” He informed the regulator will launch its own Direct to Home (DTH) television system by October this year.

Then how we will have friendship!!!! Pakistan should allow Indian serials and mega serials and our TV news like Newshour with arnab :D

Or we won't play cricket or invite Pakistan jurnalist to Newshour debates

pemra have no control over thousands of cable operators
It's not a big deal of a ban... Online we can watch all shows even banned shows with IP changer software...

Nobody can argue that the quality of the content is utter rubbish. I've spoken to some producers who themselves are very liberal and modern - they claim that they know the content is rubbish and regressive - but they show what the market demands and the demand for this rubbish is soaring in smaller towns and villages. Even the protagonists and entire families in the shows are now based in small towns and not the cities. The real good content now comes in the mini web-series which is what the urban audience wants along with shows from Netflix. And many production houses have web-series arms now.

Instead of banning it - legalize it and filter it. Banning never works. Although how Indian DTH operators will be allowed to sell hardware in Pak is anybody's guess. Allow your own DTH operators to show Indian content.
