no, i think the ban was a precautionary one....there are scenes in there which could annoy some people --especially conservative ones.

no inappropriate love scenes; but heavy consumption of alcohol, and a lot of gaali.

when Pakistanis watch movies, they dont do it alone. They are with friends and/or family, young ones and elders. It isn't like what they do in west.

so it's understandable though; I think they're planning a watered down, slightly censored version of the film.

and yes - its intended mostly for western audience; just to shatter myths about what goes on in Pakistan. Also aims to show some of the indifferent attitudes among some of the wealthy people.

one of those films you just kind of make what you want to make out of it; nothing mind boggling (even Hammad admitted it) but worth a watch

a little inside info: theyre planning a film in Karachi soon --different theme. Will be more like a fictional documentary

anyways, off-topic sorry

I don't know about the slackistan movie, but i like one of the girls from that movie.

pak channels are banned in india and indian channels are open in pak, explain plzz..

DEMAND IS JUST ONE WORD, IF YOU COULD UNDERSTAND.

Now wonder about these three things

1 Pakistan used to produce quality serials in 1990's and they were famous in india.
Now crap, no one wants them:sick::sick:

2 Like bollywood movies are pirated (Un-controllable)in large amount in pakistan, similarly lollywood movies although few ( 10-20 in year) could also be spread and pirated( (Un-controllable)in india..BUT NO IT DOESN'T HAPPEN.
why, again no one wants them(even pakistanis), CRAP AGAIN.

3 Pirated pakistani mujra cds has some little industry in india. Why so?
Sexy, porno stuff and some Beautiful gals.:)

Its all demand and supply dude, better get your head right.

Produce a great quality movie, india ka cheez hai it would rock cinemas world over.:)

banned is the word used to describe not to allow the stuff in the first place, if u ban the channels, how come they do business in your country, its bullshyt to say pakistan serials and musics are worse than india, as i guess they are actually far better than indias sas bahu, but its not hard to imagine as channels are not allowed in the first place...

Yes, the % of people watching Indian movies and channels has gone down in the last 30 years, since 100+ Pakistani entertainment/news channels and FM Stations have taken over the Pakistani audience.

DEMAND IS JUST ONE WORD, IF YOU COULD UNDERSTAND.

The point is to let the market decide; the Indian government shouldn't ban Pakistani dramas/movies. If there is no demand, then there is no need to ban.

the sole purpose of the film was merely to show the mindset and 'halaat' of some of those 'western' minded upper class and elitist youths in Pakistan

I haven't seen the movie but it sounds like a movie by the super-rich elite for the super-rich elite. The height of self-indulgence!

99% of the common Pakistani public couldn't care less how these rich brats live. And Western audiences certainly don't.

The government is to be blamed for this mess as they have failed to provide support to the Pakistani Film Industry.

By now we should know not to expect anything from the government. Since Bollywood movies do quite well in Pakistan, there is clearly a market for this kind of entertainment. This should be a signal to smart business that there is an investment opportunity in making Pakistani movies.

The only catch is that the movies have to be something the people want to watch. Most people want to be entertained, not moralized. Bollywood understands this and gives the public what it wants. Self-indulgent, restricted audience crap like 'Slackistan' or heavy moralizing movies won't cut it.

What the public wants is light entertainment: simple boy-meets-girl stuff with good visuals and songs.

Bottom line, Pakistani entertainment industry has to lift its game and make movies that people want to watch. The market is there. Bollywood's popularity proves it.

That radio guy is nothing but a bigot, pure and simple!

Music has no religion, no cast, no race, and no borders! Music is love! Music is the heart of our soul!

But then, I know people blinded with hatred will never understand that.

It was inappropriate for the RJ to diss India like this on a song request show. He was in his right to refuse Indian songs, but not to diss India.

Concepts of Mauka and Dastoor go hand in hand in our culture too.

These days each and everything that Pakistanis are uttering is more of an embarrassment for Pakistan.

The radio guy is no more a bigot than what you are,

A native country is like a mother and no loyal son of any soil will enjoy anything from a country which has broken half your country.

Why would you like a country who has broken half of your motherland

You people love to watch their movies and songs while they are busy cursing your religion, prophets and founding fathers
