The videos also prove that hindus, muslims and sikhs were living peacefully with each other for centuries and during partition, they suddenly became bloodthirsty against each other. That has even worsened the relations of indians and pakistanis. The bloodshed of millions of people cant be forgotten.Partition should never have happened just to prevent the massacre.
Indians and Paks carry a lot of myths in their heads. This is mostly based on the 3rd grade sarkari school history books.
here is something you won't find in your school's text books.
Partition impacted mostly one state in the whole of British India. And that state was Punjab.
Before partition
-- East Punjab (Indian side) had 55-65% Muslim Punjabis. (depending on city/village)
-- West Punjab (Pak side) had 35-45% non-Muslim Punjabis (depending on city/village)
After partition
--- Indian Punjab had 0% Muslim punjabis (totally annihilated by Indian mobs)
-- Pak Punjab had 0% non-Muslim punjabis (totally annihilated by Pak mobs)
--- few exceptions were tiny Muslim population in Malir kotla, and tiny sikh population around holy shrines such as: Nankana sahib and Punja sahib
nowhere else in India or Pak, the ethnic cleansing was so absolute so comprehensive.
Around 1947 there were few riots and some uprooting around Delhi area and tiny bit in Kolkatta etc.
So partition should be blamed for the killings and rapes and ethnic cleansing in Punjab only.
Years prior to partition,
1946 saw 1000's Muslims and non-Muslims butchered in Bihar, Bengal.
1930s saw the same thing in UP
1920 saw butchery in Indian south
Thus it is inaccurate to say that Partition resulted in "India burning"
However India had been burning long before partition and that mainly led up to the partition.
This is all sad history and my heart goes out for all those who lost their lives, their love loved ones. Doesn't matter if they were hindus, sikhs or Muslims. Their blood was red and their hearts beat the same way, and their hopes dreams and aspirations were no different from each other.
Hope one day we all come together and ask for forgiveness for the carnage committed against the innocent people.
peace.
