Panjab University beats IITs, enters top 400 club

hahahahahaha..... lolx

let me cry for some time guys...... :(

It would be infinitely harder to get into say IIT Mumbai then to get into Punjab University. Just look at the profiles of Almuni of IIT Mumbai in Fortune 100 companies you will get an Idea.

Admission rate is not part of the ranking methodology. Rightly so, otherwise ranking would skewed towards countries with huge population but few elite institutions, like India. To a lesser extent, China.

Yes, IIT alumni are more famous, in fact they are more famous than IIT itself. Sadly that's not a good sign for IIT. If you study the correlation between lowly ranking of ITT and profile of IIT alumni, it tells that IIT as an institution isn't fantastic, but they do attract the best Indian student. Hence, their student outshine the school. This is actually a discredit to the institutions. Truly great institutions produce outstanding professor, quality research, as well as successful alumni.

You are correct to certain extent, but even than thinking that Punjab University does cutting edge research better than IIT Mumbai is simply unfathomable.

Anyway, for me the best Institutions are those that produce the best Alumni. Faculty, research comes latter. This is my personal opinion and some may not agree with me here.
