RAWALPINDI: Panic and fear gripped Viqar-un-Nisa School and College for Girls in Rawalpindi following a firing incident near the government-run institute on Wednesday.

Initial reports suggest an exchange of fire took place between police and car thieves, who later tried to enter the institute in an attempt to escape.

At least two girls were injured as the students tried to secure themselves from a possible attack at the school. A heavy contingent of Army personnel along with security officials arrived at the school.

Though the institute has been cleared, all schools in the area have been closed for the day and are reportedly on high alert following the incident.

It's really sad that students and educational institutions have to remain in a continue state of fear.

Can't you bring in a gun law?

Like clamping down on gun ownership?

That will make your police's job much easier.
Most of the time in fact every criminal use unlicensed weapons smuggled from tribal areas or Afghanistan. We have licensed weapons at home for protection. It is basic right of the citizen to have arms for self protection. In Punjab every home have weapon and crime rate is low as compared to Karachi where peaceful civilians don't have arms.

Abey bhai there are already 70 million+ armed peoples in Pakistan :enjoy:
If the issues of wild boars in the capital isnt resolved you can add one more in that list (メ`ロ´)︻デ═一

I think you don't have any idea about the gun law in Pakistan so in easy words i will tell you like most of the civilians holds arms in possession more than the Police however law is strict for the one who carries for protection but the detection of criminal is not up-to the mark yet. In most of the cases weapons recovered from criminals are unlicensed and supplied from northern areas or by Afghani agents and the rest is a long debate. Possession of arm by a civilian had already made it easy to reduce the crime rate especially robberies.

Licenses have been suspended indefinitely for quite some time now, there was also a scheme to surrender illegal weapons to the police in return for immunity for possession however a large number of firearms still remain in illegal circulation.
