Let's cut the chase and avoid a few unnecessary posts explaining what we mean or not.
1. Intro plz. Hi, I am a Pakistani from Islamabad, and who am I having the honour of indulgence?
2. I was glad that you were not implying a defence for Nawaz.
3. Let's be clear about "girlfriend". Many a female tv anchors may be friends with any number of politicians, it's normal here like in the west but a special friend "girlfriend" is a totally other commodity.
4. Her implying that he was not in office at that time doesn't mean the norms change and he can flirt around and go fishing for girlfriends.
5. Pakistani's cultural, traditional, religious and social norms don't allow an overt indulgence in special friends or "girlfriends" for married men, specially for leaders like Nawaz. Hence, the attempt to give iPhone to keep his attempt to start an illicit girlfriend relationship hushed up. If this doesn't make him a pervert then he must be a very pious man.
6. Dating culture is mostly for the young, the liberals and mostly associated with unmarried people. A leading politician is quite another fruit.
7. We are talking about a self righteous, self proclaimed conservative, religious minded, married politician who always accuses his opponents for their western mind set and immorality.
8. You do get it? The satirical nature of the particular part of interview itself implies perversion by the usual third world run of the mill politician.
Thank you for reading.
A Pakistani but not in Pakistan at the moment.
Few things to say about your points:
4. I am not aware of him "flirting around" with numerous women out there so I cant say I would agree/disagree with him though I would say that a politicians job is to serve the people, not give up on his/her personal life, and if they want to look for companionship in their own personal time then it is their right to do so like any adult
5. I have to admit i totally forgot/never thought about the fact that Nawaz is actually married. However, I know of people in Pakistan who have multiple wife, so I would assume they went out an approched a women the same way, but that doesnt mean they are pervert right? Again I ask, which part of asking out a women makes a man pervert?
Also this could be tricky because this women didnt actually go out with him (i think) so this could be borderline him cheating on his wife, which would definitely be wrong, or him finding another companion just like Muslim men who have multiple wife, and we cant say for sure where/ how far it would have gone, but you already seem to think that he is just looking for a fun time and move on. About the phone, she clearly said that the phone is offered just so that intelligence would not be able to tap into their conversation, and i dont see anything wrong with that.
6. That doesnt mean that old people are not allowed to find companion.
7. I cant say a lot about this because I am not sure what mindset he critisize his opponents of, but being self righteous and religious minded doesnt mean someone should become a monk, the Prophet encouraged marriage, it is a good thing. If you want to say that Islamically this whole "girlfriend/boyfriend" thing is not allowed, i would agree with that, but otherwise i do not see anything wrong with him approaching a women
8. I didnt see the whole interview but based on the clip you shared, I dont think it implies perversion, but the fact that a prominent political figure approached that lady, thats all.
Hope you understand what im trying to say here, i dont like the man, but him approaching a women and what Ayesha is accusing Imran for are 2 different situations.
