Court may order closure of Geo Channel as well.. Jail term is limited, but other measures maybe taken against them without any limits..

GEO will WANT to be banned by SC as nothing will degrade Pakistan like that. Once banned they can defame us by crying how the freedom of speech and the media rights are being violated in Pakistan. Will use it to bash and defame Pakistan and that is the sole reason this particular channel exist for. No surprises there!

Good thing is that there are many more channels which can effectively handle this propaganda in Pakistan..

Internationally, we don't care.. as ARY was once fined and had to file for bankruptcy in UK on request of GEO..

And believe me.. they don't want to be banned.. They only earn money from Pakistan.. Banning them in Pakistan will crush them in just one year.. with all the shameless anchors coming back to senses, leaving GEO to join other channels..

Today it's GEO, Tomorrow it can be other media outlet. It's better to make strict laws on conduct of media to control misuse, cancel the license of all news channels and ask them to register again under that law if they are interested.

Because that time they acted against Army.. and it was for 15 days, but unannounced revenue loss (due to loss in advertisement) caused Geo to beg pardon from Army leadership multiple times.. it took many months and billions of Rupees loss to get them back to business..

Aaj tak tankhuwaah nahi mil rahi kuchh logon ko uss ban ki wajah se..

If Court bans it for just 3 months, it will be an end for them..

I agree with your in principle but I don't think Geo wants to get banned rather, Geo is being stubborn because it knows it shall not be banned due to the reasons you mentioned. The primary reason @PakSword and @Farah Sohail is that Pakistan will get a bad name if Geo is banned and SCP will never give such an excuse when there are other less extreme and even more effective and even crippling options available.

So what may be those other options?

There are thousands of employees working under the accused and SCP will surely take that into consideration while adjudicating on the matter.

If they don't apologise then SCP is likely to slap a jail term to the owner and his companions who are found guilty.

SCP may refer its final findings on GEO to PEMRA and order PEMRA to take the maximum actions according to PEMRA law.

If they do apologise then SCP may give a warning to Geo to correct it's ways and objectionable practices to malign the supreme court.

It depends on the level of stubborness of Mir Shakil that may even include banning the channel by PEMRA and even formation of a board to run the affairs of Geo down the line.

Yet another Jalsa by Nawaz today and that too on Kashmir day...did you notice how India was completely missing from his speech on Kashmir - in Kashmir - to Kashmiris and yet the audience were head over heels lol...

To all those like me who always thought how come Altaf Hussain was always able to hold such large jalsas in Karachi despite all his fascist and criminal practices in the same city, if that can happen time after time in such an educate locality then we should not be surprised to see Nawaz and Maryam beam with political confidence gathering sizeable crowds elsewhere like Altaf Hussain did when he had a free hand in Karachi.

I keep saying since the Nawaz GT road yatra contempts that Just like Altaf Hussain was banned for his outrageous speeches against Pakistan and state institutions, Nawaz and Maryam should have been banned from media coverage after their continuous contempt of court and speeches against state institutions in violation of constitution of Pakistan a long long time ago and save the people of Pakistan from such repeated violations of our senses.

I think the Lahore high court passed a judgement on contempt of court by Nawaz and co that PEMRA should take action against channels who telecast contempt of court speeches...

The level of contempt has been increasing since and was so in the recent gatherings of PMLN and yet again outrageous in the Peshawar jalsa so whatever happened to the implementation of that verdict???
