Pakistan’s steadily diminishing equity with the US may have hit rock bottom

Nothing , and I repeat NOTHING, is more important then to have peace within Pakistan. When there is peace, economic activity will take care of itself. Even if the rest of the world shun Pakistan, its a bloody 6th biggest country in the world! its local economy is will sustain itself when citizens feel secure and at peace with no fear of security/law and order situation. America has been using Afghan soil along with its sidekicks like India to spread terrorism in Pakistan ever since 9/11 to make our nation to give up on our state and show us to world as a "failed state" (with ofcourse our nukes as one of the prime target).

If you are one of those who are still "hoping" for better Pakistan-America ties, you need to get your head checked. 70k+ Pakistani citizens dead in a American sponsored proxy war should have been enough to knock some sense.

I am cautiously optimistic, specially observing how Biden and Co are reacting towards PMIK government that Pakistan has given Biden admin a middle finger.

My only concern is , unfortunately, without menacing words, the moles within Pakistani establishment. There are already reports that there are certain individuals within military hierarchy who are still rooting for the Nawaz clan! Madness would be understatement if the likes of Shareef and Bhutto clans are still in the plan of some "idiots". Shareef and Bhuttos means, American rule through proxy, no ifs and buts.

No chance. Our establishment will be down on its knees - cap in hand, take thier own lube.

Whilst our elite all have economic and personal interests and investments abroad rather than abroad, we shall never be independent.

Honestly I'm beginning to think economic growth and wealth generation is even more important than anti corruption measures or anything else.

We need a huge middle class and a new wealthy elite before we can break free of the establishment.
I have a totally different take.
the current American attitude is more because of what America wants to do in the region in its cold war with China and how it wants India to be on the front line in countering and containing china.
Although Indian animosity towards Pakistan plays its part in keeping an unfriendly and dismissive policy towards Pakistan but main reason is Pakistan's closeness with China and its practical and major cooperation with China in CPEC project which goes directly against the American inspired QUAD strategy.

the Democrats have never shied away from starting new conflicts or adding fuel to existing ones. they are no less warmongers than their Republican opponents. America in in the same spirit will see no benefit in peace in Afghanistan beyond the verbal expressions and will be quick to hold Pakistan responsible if the violence flares up again once the Afghan Taliban start retaliating due to American failure to honour the peace agreement and withdrawal.

our military establishment knows that it cant do anything which can please America and help it consider more cordial and friendly ties both commercial ,military and diplomatic/ the mere existence of Pakistan and its military is an obstacle for the Americans until they have faith in India that it can stand up to China and help in defeating it economically, militarily and isolate it internationally.

this US policy will play out for next 50 or more years as America will continue to stall China and look for all the countries neighboring china . our Political and military elite knows it well and it will just do what is best for its self preservation and a plush life in the west after leaving Pakistan.

I am sure that the Pakistani leadership has chosen its path after carefully weighing all the pros and cons of its decisions in this matter, as you point out: "our Political and military elite knows it well and it will just do what is best for its self preservation".

What a load of BS this is. Pakistan NEVER had any 'Equity' with the US. It was always a Master- Slave relations. And looks like on surface at least this relationship is no more. But then again, you have some very, very corrupt people in the Establishment including the military ruling this country, so you never know when they will start this master- Slave relations again.

I don't think that the case at all. The reason why the Washington establishment is so upset with Islamabad. They got conditioned to Pakistan yielding to behind the door USA pressure. No longer the case with the USA's shift to India.
you are underestimating pakistan , pakistan NEVER yielded to USA under any pressure overt or covert ....thats the reason USA is pissed off ......if you are insinuating something from 9/11 episode just remember this ' you can go to afghanistan but you will need our permission to leave '..............Pak generals with all their flaws are masters of geopolitical chess ....they have checkmated , both , india and usa.........i am not sure you will understand this , it seems to be something way above your league.
