What's new

Pakistan's Nuclear Assets wont be a secret anymore.

Obviously the facts will be obscured in the greater interest of national security like it is done in all nations. It is not like Zardari and CO. can double check they will have to accept what is given to them.

This government cannot be trusted for national security. :undecided:

Not trusted by whom, exactly, and why?

The Army doesn't trust the government, and vice versa, for their own selfish reasons, both in violation of their sworn duties, that is all. That is what keeps Pakistan down in the dumps.

It may not be a entirely bad thing, As the halls of SPD are lined with stories of MASSIVE corruption ...and with zero accountability along with the "holier than thou" status of the people and organization involved it makes it a financial black hole that needs to be investigated.

The US also has black projects whose details are known to a very few... but the budget for these projects is very clear cut in terms of how much has been allotted for them.

What a joke transparency to whom.....a bunch of traitors who are willing to sell this land for a dime and or a nation who even after 65 years is unable to vote decide who they should vote for. How pathetic can it get

That is true of ALL of Pakistan these days, not just SPD.

What is worse is that there is no realistic solution to this situation.

Important part of financial audit is stock count and physical verification of assets. How will that portion of audit get done? :P

Also confirmation of balances from vendors [in this case "The Most Secret"] will get done?

CIA has tried and failed multiple times to count and even kidnap Pakistan's nuclear warheads...
They may succeed now..Thanks to GOP

Transparency is the way to go.

Selective transparency is rather appropriate as we haven't reached a stage where we could afford to be completely transparent due to a variety of international exigencies.

The civilian (read "retarded") Government might be selling us out but I honestly think there are other people in position who wont allow this to come through.
The ISI, for one won't like this and they wont let any such audit tell the secrets about our nuclear assets IMHO.

Transparency is not the way to go,not until other states show the good stuff. How about the "International Community" start putting pressure on India and Russia for a change?

The correct question is why? Its not transparency for whom but what it will achieve.

So according to you the correct question is "why", but you've decided to look at "what" it would achieve.

Accountability for one. Your resources will be better utilized. Loose ends will be tied n both planning and otherwise. That in itself is the biggest advantage.

No doubt Indians like yourself, as well as the foreign backers of the treacherous Government presently in power in Pakistan, and their liberal-minded worshippers in Pakistan, would love to see "accountability" of the armed forces, and specifically the SPD. We shall see how this pans out, but based on past sensitivities shown by Pakistan's armed forces to the nuclear assets, it would be out of character for them to suddenly and/or totally acquiesce.

All the talk of "loose ends" being tied, "better resource" utilisation, etc. is meaningless prattle to justify unwarranted meddling in Pakistan's security affairs. As such, you should follow your own countrymen's advice so often given here in matters pertaining to India: this is a matter for Pakistan alone, please keep your exhortations to yourself.

This is ridiculous!

The liberals and politicians are selling the last stand of Pakistan's security away. If it get's leaked, all N. program is at waste.
