Pakistan's Missile Tests: Dates and Chronology


In response to a thread started by fellow member Safriz, I have tried to summarize the chronology of Pakistan's Missile Tests mentioned in the article written by NTI. In addition, I have filtered the test dates for each missile. Hopefully, this approach will allow us to explore more about Pakistan's Missile Program.

Pakistan's Nuclear Delivery Systems are designed and manufactured by the two Organizations; Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) and National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM). In the past decade, Pakistan has rapidly developed and diversified its means of delivering WMDs. Currently, Pakistan possesses 10 different types of those weapons as par official claims, and there may be more in the pipeline. Strict secrecy shrouds Pakistan's Nuclear and Missile Program, as the whole program is led and supervised by the Armed Forces of Pakistan.

During development, every weapons goes through the testing phase, to which Pakistan's Ballistic and Cruise missiles are no exceptions. Since 1989, Pakistan has officially carried out approximately 58~60 fight tests of its Missiles.

The general procedure that is followed before the weapon is handed over to the armed forces is as follows:
The missiles undergo Static Testing in the first phase. Different parameters are evaluated and necessary modifications are made. In the next phase, the missile is Flight-Tested several times, with the introduction of new parameters every time. The final successful test verifies the weapon's capability to deliver nuclear warheads, along with verifying all other testing parameters. Then the weapon enters the Production Phase, after which it is handed over to the end-user (Strategic Forces Command) to be inducted. Afterwards, the periodic Training Flight Tests are continued by the SFC.

The ISPR has always claimed that every flight-test was successful, which isn't logically true. However, since there is no official acknowledgement of any failure, it cannot be specified that which tests failed in one or more parameters.

Yes...after the failures (mostly in accuracy) in Hatf-2, it was cancelled. Pakistan immediately realized that these programs cannot be materialized without foreign help, so contacted China for M-11s and North Korea for Nodongs. Initially some missiles were imported, but afterwards development was resumed once the necessary infrastructure was established and a whole new setup of organizations (NESCOM and its subsidiaries) was formed to develop the solid-fueled ballistic missiles for Pakistan.

^^^In karachi if you are going from tower towards kemari ,just before netty jetty you will see this white building on your left hand side. These people heloed a lot in secretly importing many foreign missiles into pakistan.Dont say their name if you know which Organisation i am pointing at.
They are civilians but they are the unsung heroes of success of many of our defence programs.
They kept the veil of secracy out of patriotism.
The one point i never see people mentioning is that many of the missiles were also Transported into Pakistan from Ukraine.That was in the mid to late 90s.
Whether these were Russian missiles or some other,i dont know.
The missiles were never transported directly from country of origin but certain proxy countries were involved.

Yes, thats true. Not only Ukraine, but Belarus was also involved. If you look at the pictures of the TELs that are used by Pakistan, majority of them are the Belarusian MAZ-543 or similar TELs.
