Haha good one :D
But seriously the road to reforms runs through our agriculture sector we have ignored it for too long our yields need to increase

Just compare his performance with Mr Haroon Hameeds, world of difference.Kudos Sheikh

Pakistan need to get its balls back. We cannot be ignored. The world knows it and its about time we started to understand it

If Asad Umer manages to put Pakistan on an right economic path in few years time than I can see him as next PM of Pakistan from PTI after Imran Khan(mind you, much older and calmer Imran Khan can become President of Pakistan by then, say 2028 onwards). Asad Umer got the most difficult ministry among all and so far, he is doing a good job.

The reforms the FM talks about in interview is good (i.e decrease subsidies, increase some tax rates)....but I would say the biggest singular focus (reform wise) has to be increase taxbase by 10 times at least for starters in this current term.
That is already known and being discussed on multiple threads since a long time ...that our tax base is a problem even the PM talked about it and now FM!

.
In other words, they doing exactly what IMF wants them to do?

Experienced providers know what positions to assume for repeat generous benefactors, do they not?

The single thing that stood out to me the most (now that I watched it) was the number of taxpayers being around 800k for Pakistan as quoted by the FM. I knew it was low, but not that low...

That is a dishonest statement actually, since it refers to direct income tax payers only. Pakistan has a highly regressive indirect taxation system where almost everybody is paying high rates, specially the middle and lower classes.

.
Silly question but why do Pakistan politicians keep going for interviews on BBC aka Bullshi.t Broadcasting Corporation?? It is a state controlled propaganda machine and will never present unbiased views. In fact it only reports on pakistan whenever there are terrorists activities there.

he lacks charisma though is a very decent man

Try me... i will understand.

What will happen in years time is zero exports but loads of aid and may be ''foreign investment'' as well.
A country which is lead from Bani Gala instead of PM house will never be good for Pakistan.
You may be Right in that case we will support you..but you may be wrong, in that case will you change your opinion ?

In the end of day we saw three govt of PMLN and PPPP which led to numerous defaults of Pakistan (1998&now) severe inflations and drop in exports except for PPPP era when it still kept going up(due to low power prices and no refund helding)
Overall PPPP and PMLN growth was sinialr with average of around 4-5% with last year of PMLN being different with too much over spending (fiscal deficit of >10%)

Realistic targets in my opinion will be
Bringing in education reforms
Tax to gdp ratio of 13-14%
Exports to 30-35 b
CAD 1% of GDP
Resolving power and gas problems
Keeping growth above 5% without messing up with fiscal deficit and debt to gdp ratio of around 60-65% down from 74%
Ending all loses in most enterprises

Previous govt made ABOVE WORSE Rather moving in right direction

The only thing keeping that country from disintegrating is Allah and those Pakistanis who still believe in Him and the founding ideology.

Otherwise, anyone would look at this information and wonder why SHTF hasn't happened yet.

Regarding the very small number of tax payers, social distrust is the primary reason.

also lack of unified nationalism and sectarian dick s..cking of the Saudis by past governments but Allah(swt) has saved and blessed Pakistan at times by preventing it from becoming another Syria or worse Yemen

In Western and India media it is false propaganda going on that Pakistan is silent on Jamal murder because of this Saudi package. My Question to them , When Indian commandos killed this princess in Goa because she thought India is a secular country and can give her the political asylum. Where is the human rights activist, NGO, Superpower or corrupt media raise voice against India for violation of human rights?
But for Jamal Ahmad Khashoggi, all superpower, NGO and corrupt media held accountable to Saudi, why superpowers protecting here India and not held responsible for princess murder.
The Indian commandos "threatened everyone aboard with guns, and dragged Sheikha Al Maktoum away as she screamed that she was claiming political asylum". but she was killed by Indian commando's gas shelling.
