A top Emirati security official, known for making controversy-catching remarks on wide-ranging issues, took to Twitter to denounce Pakistanis, accusing them of being a "dangerous threat to Gulf societies".

In his recent diatribe on April 1, Lt Gen Dhahi Khalfan, who is the head of general security of Dubai, wrote in Arabic: "The Pakistanis pose a serious threat to the Gulf communities for the drugs they bring with them to our countries."

The tweet, followed by a series of similar attacks targeting Pakistanis, came in the backdrop of a drug racket being busted in Dubai. The tweet was also carrying a photo apparently showing three Pakistani smugglers, along with the drugs allegedly recovered from them.

No government data is readily available to show that Pakistani citizens have been involved in certain crimes in UAE more than immigrants belonging to other countries.

Khalfan resorted to generalising, however, asking his fellow citizens "not to employ Pakistanis". The security official, who was the head of Dubai Police Force until 2013, termed it a "national duty to stop hiring Pakistanis”.

well, in the grand scheme of things, UAE is insignificant to say the least.

1. Their oil wealth is fast fading, oil prices are kept artificially high by constraining supply thanks to danda of putin , and the mutual agreement to put shale out of business( which they have )

2. the whole country is run by expats ( barely 10 percent locals ) ,. a local conflict involving iran and a few houthi missiles would trigger mass exodus and would cripple their economy .

3. Dubai hasnt really become the financial centre they hoped, there is no home grown talent, no local start up that took over the world, just imported donkey workers from india who are average to the say the least in calibre .
Dubai stock market ? Sovereign wealth fund ? Inflation is on the rise, living is expensive, people are gradually moving out.

4. The UAE military is basically a glorified contractor force, Pakistani advisors run the airforce, while PMC Wagner type groups are the fodder of army . they might have the best weapons, yet performance of the whole armed forces in cohesion if questionable in war ( with iran ? )

Ummah Chumma disease is Pakistanis problem..Arabs only protect and look after their own intrest..with rapid reforms going in Arabia, it is likely that Pakistanis will start to declare them Kafirs and join terrorist organisations. The Dubai chief is simply speaking long term strategic concerns as part of his duty - which is keeping law and order in Dubai and plan for future security..

Just look at number of Pakistanis fighting in Irani militias posted in Syria and Iraq and Pakistani establishment failure to control internal security. It is one of the worst country when it comes to internal security. Being is a Pakistani is one of the worst nationality over seas, and its even more worst for a business man. Many reputable banks no longer open bank accounts for Pakistanis or business with significant Pakistani share holding as they consider it a high risk country.

A senior Dubai police official has slammed Pakistani authorities and community for failing to curb drug smuggling from their homeland to Gulf states.

Head of General Security for Dubai, Dhahi Khalfan, tweeted, "The Pakistanis pose a serious threat to the Gulf communities because they bring drugs to our countries."

His comments came after Dubai authorities arrested a gang of Pakistanis involved in smuggling drugs.

Khalfan who is known for his controversial statements in a series of Twitter messages also advised UAE nationals to not employ Pakistanis, who have deep historic relations with the region through cultural and religious ties.
