Vegetarian dishes are almost never served in my house, there's always at least a small amount of meat.

Go vegetarian my friend. I love it; only sparing will have meat but even then will not touch beef - only my own farm poultry or caught fish.

Yes, it does have some nasty side effects when consumed in excess, which is why I try to keep meat in small quantities in my meals, but I do not remove it entirely.

No, I like meat too much and it does have health benefits when consumed in small quantities.
 
Because of too much rice and potatoes, I think.
I think genetics also.
We have here one of the highest epidemics of diabetes as well but it is not due to rice or potatoes but genetic predisposition and high rates of sugar drinks.

In Karachi its called Lobia not Rajma.
We make beans with cow or sheep/goat feet or even stomach or oxtail. All night it cooks outside. eaten with meilie pap or rice.
do you know oxtail here is more expensive than t-bone steak?
