that government should put some checks and balances in place, when it comes to what kind of products (especially fertilizer) they are pushing at farmers.

Who is they, the government or the private companies?

Farmers need to be educated and given more options so they can decide. The government should level the playing field and give the right costs for all the inputs. Subsidizing useless or inefficient excess fertilizer use is the problem. Flood irrigation is also very wasteful and the costs should be properly charged to the farmer so they can be inventoried to switch to better methods.

This irks me so much about all our govt departments. None of these people seem to have any targets or any repercussions of not achieving targets.

I would hope we could send Pakistani students to cutting edge Chinese agricultural universities and have them trained there after they are educated in Pakistan. China won’t allow them to stay, so there is no fear of losing the students to immigration and In this way, to get a senior job, students will have to be independently assessed.

Chinese universities could also help Pakistani universities cut out the useless parts of the curriculum and add in useful parts.

There should also be a program to mandate these students to teach our own farmers what they have learned in order to graduate.

Gov is there to make laws not do sh*t.

It can be easily done. It’s call land reforms. We need to control landlords system where land owner can enslaved farmers.

Empowering the people by only making laws???
Government can do lot more than just making laws. Our people are lazy and don’t want to work. They want people to give them money without doing anything.

What Pakistan government is thinking now, Indian government has already done that. Their education system is much higher especially in the south. They were teaching Oracle DB stuff to 9th and 10th graders in 2007. College thesis/final project is to establish startup or at least share a plan for startup.

Have you seen curriculum in Pakistani universities? They are teaching subjects from 90s, basic computer science stuff like pascal language, etc. Students are copy and pasting stuff from internet or from other students.

We have huge unskilled workers who should be converted into skill workers even a matric pass can learn how to code, even a street vendor can learn a new skills. Certain government moved their entire data center because Russian teen was hacking their system. Our young generation is busy in ticktok and other bull$h!t.

My research was really latest and appreciated by those involved. It is about increasing wheat yield and saving water. Only hampered by financial situation.

There are 36 Universities and Colleges offering BSc Hons Agriculture in Pakistan.
But we can see nothing in this field, except individual efforts.
