Pakistani senior officials: will produce the fifth generation fighter

The FC-31 is just a little doubtful. unlike Chengdu , the shenyang group has not been pursuing the low observable avenue that much.
That being said, they tried to pitch it quite aggressively to the PAF. Our recommendations count a lot in many of the world's airforces.

As I mentioned before, there is one more design which was still in the pre protoype stages in China. However, right now the PAF is seeing beyond just aircrame and avionics for its own program. The aspiration are for at least 80% of th aircraft being homegrown
I hope the next-generation fighter program spurs the introduction of hi-tech R&D infrastructure in Pakistan. While schools are good, Kamra Aviation City should be home to actual facilities for developing and testing composite aerostructres, transceiver modules, digital optics, etc. Should the PAF tap into a Chinese program, that fundamental R&D capacity building should be part of the deal. The pay-off would run well beyond the next-gen fighter, but help towards its upgrades and whatever comes next.

building radar most important thing do all the research on ground base and airborne AESA radar do invest for long term search and we can buy j31 from china its cheaper deal + we don't have that much money to start big project for 5th generation instead invest in defence sheild and first step to make radars plus we have to acpt that we are not ready yet to make 5th generation still 4th gen jf-17 which not fully produced by PAC still we get 40 % complex parts from china and engine from russia so going for radar is best option to have eyes in the sky and keep transfering the tech litle by litle anyways loved the concept best of luck guys

We all should keep one thing in mind j20 is quiet big to land and then to take off from liaoning
And China is still in the process of building two more carriers in span of another three years
Time so hopefully j31 will come out with something eye catching for the Chinese aircraft carriers
Hopefully Pakistan will also get some fruit out of it

It's like the Super-7. What were the chances of it ever seeing the light of day had it not been for the PAF selecting it for its own use? The PAF's next-generation fighter could be from those other Chinese designs.

While the FC-31 has come along, it's worth remembering that the PAF hasn't worked with Shenyang since the J-6 days, its comfort-zone is with Chengdu via the F-7P, F-7PG, JF-17 and, for a time, FC-20. The PAF could try working with CAC to come up with another next-generation fighter platform.

This doesn't contradict ACM Sohail Aman's call for supply-side independence either. This time around a higher proportion of the development work and manufacturing process could take place at PAC, much in the same vein as BAE Systems will be at TAI to work on the TFX.
But how realistic is that? Are the chinese even willing to share vital tech with Pakistan? I have never bought the hype that Pakistani population tends to have, that China is willing to sell everything to Pakistan. Surely, even the Chinese are wary of sharing a tech that could very well, at the very least, be smuggled out from a base they have no control over; As unrealistic as that scenario might seem, China must be at least thinking about it.

Depends. If the Chinese won't sell it, then Pakistan will have to find another source. That reluctance from Beijing could very well stir Pakistan to heavily invest in education and organic R&D, and in time, those capacities could emerge independently. The Kamra Aviation City initiative and ACM Sohail Aman wanting supply-side independence did come out of nowhere considering how everyone and child's their pet hamster's babies were assuming the PAF would auto-buy the FC-31.

I think the R&D should start irrepective of whether the Chinese sell us the fifth generation platform or not. There are many benefits which we have realized having had the independance to do things to the JFT.The sooner we get going the sooner we will get a position of respect in the world. Fifth generation technology is becoming dearer and if the trend of buying from XY and Z continues we will soon become bankrupt.PN has learnt this lesson and PAF knows it as well.
