What's new

Pakistani rupee trades at record low of 90.35 to dlr

When did Afghanistan default because of the change in currency value? It didn't. That would mean according to your own logic that AFN has inherent strength in it to withhold at that level. Isn't it?
What is their trade volume? what is exported by them? even afghan transit imports are sold in Pakistan and then smmuggled into afghanistan. So essentially Afghanistan is relatively a closed economy.

some today rates

1.00 Afghani = 1.58801 Japanese yen

1.00 Afghani = 1.09239 Indian rupee

1.00 Afghani = 230.132 Iranian riyals

1.00 Afghani = 24.1329 Iraqi deennars

1.00 Afghani = 23.8183 South Korean Won

1.00 Afghani = 2.35648 Sri Lankan Rupee

soon Japanese Iranians and Indians will migrate to afghanistan for get the jobs in kabul kandhar economical hubs of asia

Talking about Afghani is not right because this country dont have any economy , for now its just an American vassal state , this was new currency valuation done by Americans , they cant maintain it more then few years , they will be needing more notes and they will print it.

More ever higher currency value never means your doing good you can take example of yen and kuwaiti currency, a balanced currency is neither too high nor to low.

I think they redevised the currency when Karzai Government came in. But the question is "Does a stronger currency signify anything?". If Pakistani Government decide that 1PKR will be equal to 1000USD, it may declare this exchange rate but what will happen? a) Pakistani Exports will come essentialy to 0 b) The remittances flow will dry c) Imports will skyrocket leading to gigantic trade deficit and ultimately default. Essentially stronger currency does not signify anything, Just look at Japanese Yen and Korean Won. These countries dont like their currencies to get stronger since it hits their exports. A classic example is Swiss Franc, the recent unprecedented appriciation in CHF has destroyed the local industry and made it uncompetitive forcing SNB to cap the appriciation of CHF to 1.2USD at maximum. So essentiall two currencies are two different commodities with different underlying fundamentals and comparing them essentially yield nothing except self pleasure :)

We didn't declared anything for the rates I just posted the rate update nothing to be serious about :)

people forget the story of Afghanistan its new currency after USA occupy them . its not because after 2001 Afghanistan become hub of economy or it is super economical power but new currency with rates by USA . same like Turkish lira story they changed it old with new lira so new Turkish lira equal to 1,000,000 old Turkish lira dear members .Pakistan can do it but why the hell? for just proud on these guys hahahaha

1 new Turkish lira = 1,000,000 old Turkish lira.

We do have economy but it's not so much comparable with our neighbors right now and you know where does those American money is flowing!

This American vassal state will be a competitive strong economy in near future once we start exporting oil, gas, iron, copper, gold, lithium which are being contracted out, let other mines and minerals apart!

Good if it happens but we are talking how current things are going.

No doubt afghanistan is a minral rich country with great potential but there are a couple of critical issues which are kept unresolved 1) the use of minals to fund the efforts of landlords 2) High extraction costs of untapped minerals. I was reading a report by US who conducted a study in the bordering area of afghanistan with pakistan and found that there were approximately 1 Triilion USD worth of materials lay untapped. But the sad part is that the extraction cost of these minerals exceeded 1Trillion USD making them economically unviable to mine.

Surely we need help I will be very much supportive for every developmental move from Pakistani people in Afghanistan, for decades Afghans had halal income in Pakistan I wish we someday also be able to pay for that :) we have actually more problem with warlords than Taliban for extracting mines and minerals.

The warlordism is not a big deal and will be solved once a strong government is formed and regarding the funding part I guess our local estimation is $3 trillions but Allah knows it might go up to that too and I don't relay on US findings because they are not the ones who are contracting out these mines so the sensible data estimations will be with our government.

More than 200 cadres are funded by government to study abroad in this particular field and we do lack money to dig these mines so that's why for at least a decade we will bid it to foreigners.

It's not just the investment and insecurity that is a problem for exploiting Afghanistan rich mineral resources, but also the infrastructure (roads, railways, port access). India is talking about $7 billion needed to get the iron mines in afghanistan going, and much of that involved building railways in afghanistan, iran to Chabahar, and upgrading the port of Chabahar. I doubt that India can raise the $7 billion needed.

I guess Indian investment would be $10 bln and it's Chinese investment of $7 bln on rail lines from Torkham to Logar and Logar to Mazar-e-Sharif.

It's a fact that once the extraction begins 10s of thousands of Afghans will get jobs and Taliban will not hurt them but may be regional/global players will do their part!

Personal Attacks are the last resort of the incompetent

anyway, take whoever's word you want to.. If you want you can go Riaz's blog site.. Its a strong Feel Good reading for every Pakistani feeling depressed about Pakistan's current state of affairs....

The two lines in your single post...kind of disagree with each other.
Just saying, maybe you need to stop mentioning Riaz with such intensity and frequency...it almost seems like you are obsessed with him.

I hope the contracts for mining and extraction are negotiated most professionally so that maximum benefit goes to Afghanistan.

I truly wish that this region becomes a Global Hub of trade and energy.
If CARs, Russia, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, India and China can establish a network of pipelines, rail tracks and road links...the potential of this region is truly enormous.

I will be so happy to apologize if you point out any personal attacks I have made on Riaz.. I dont agree to his writings that i believe twist the truth to a large extent and hence the comment about the blog but not about him...

and about frequency, well, they do say: "Bad se Badnaam acchha " ;)
