Featured Pakistani Navy confirms Brazilian jetliner will replace Orion patrol aircraft

Better to be neutral against USN unless no other option is left.

IN is our top foe. With ASBM, loitering anti ship munitions and naval warfare drones we cause huge losses for Indian surface ships in the western Indian Ocean. Indian posters will keep going on about how much larger their surface navy is and how it will control the Indian ocean region.......but warfare has changed. Indian surface ships will last as long as Armenian tanks. If China is willing to share satellite data with us..similar to BECA. Then we can hit ships in the eastern Indian ocean as well.

Need to prepare for capabilities, not intentions. Must keep an eye on all.

Embrarer is also a good company to purchase future airliners from, when PIA is restructured and rebuild from the ground up. Smaller planes increase the chances the planes travel full.

Also would love to see these planes operate as future Awacs (would love to see a few SAAB Globaleye Suite on an Embrarer in PAF service) and tankers, and the platform upon which we fly the Turkish Havasoj Electronic warfare suite. The long range Embrarer Lineage could be a good, relatively modest, VIP Transport for the Prime Minister or Army Chief On foreign visits. It limits the entourage that can go, keeping acquisition and operating costs low. $54 million for a VIP transport version.

Back to the MPA; do we know who willing be selling the ASW suite. IMHO, it’s probably the Swordfish by Sweden’s SAAB. We have a great relationship with SAAB and India rejecting the Gripen leaves Sweden more likely to sell at fair market price.

Swordfish was an mostly COTS product integrated and sold by SAAB, almost all of the inputs are available to PN on the market.

Have the PN already bought or optioned these 10 aircraft or are they going to buy one at a time?

With the exception of the MAD and CMS, the the PN is already using the same inputs as the Swordfish on the Sea Eagle. I'd wager the PN will ask the UK or Canada for a MAD, and at the same time, work with the Turks on the AShM and LWT (i.e., get Atmaca and ORKA).

They'll buy in batches based on available cash. So, 1 now, 2 later, 2 after that, then 1 or 2, and so on until they get to 10.

No point in putting your eggs in western basket if alternatives are there that are comparable or better. The rest of the game is all sensors, etc.

That is exactly how it is. Pakistan will purchase little hardware from Western sources. As India moves into US/Western orbit Pakistan moves towards the China/Russia orbit.

Japanese possess quite possibly the most powerful LRMPA and it's powered by four turbofans
With a aircraft that size should be able to carry 4 external missiles plus anything they can fit in a weapons bay.

Much will depend on how we strengthen airframe and cut open the bottom to install an internal bay.

This is very exciting as this will be the only jet LRMPA other then P-8. Others may follow lead here, especially nations that do not want to alternative to US products like Turkey, Egypt, Malaysia and Myanmar

Thought of a logo for the new plane, hopefully someone can sketch it.

a man in traditional Mughal military uniform holding a sword riding on the back of an Indus Dolphin like it’s some horse charging into battle.

breaking a trident would be more fitting

Interesting to see how Pakistan will play this card .As platform is one thing (Check) and Goodies are another things .Currently we have experience with Chinese AWACS and Swedish systems .IMO Swedish system offered one of the best solutions specially when very few are there customers with network iteroparity with Air force system it would have been great .Lets see I wish we have system which can be of same origin

or some sea bird ..... ???
SEA SULTAN is correct.

RAS Germany can only do propeller aircrafts LRMPA conversion and that too for the ATR. They do not have jet conversion experience that is more complex.
So who will do the conversion .... ??? OEM seems the only logical Option left ...

I just used the very basic facts like if ferry range requirements are 4k plus nautical miles (7400 kms), you are looking beyond Arabian sea into Indian ocean. American Diego Garcia base well within the range of surveillance and otherwise. India is not the only threat now since America and India formalise their military alliance. PN must/should expand its threat domain.

Pakistan Navy (PN) is capable of approaching Diego Garcia... but if but if but if but if but if.... Get the memo? :D

Let us to stick to India...

And the MAD will be one of the most critical components of an MPA, especially given the burgeoning (and potentially nuclear) indian fleet of subs. I think the Turks are developing their own MAD systems, although it would be worth pursuing US systems given their significant experience in the field. CAE of Canada is also quite adept at MAD systems.

Wonder if these planes will be of any use during a maritime search and rescue operation
