Good move, our border issues need to be resolved via discussions and negotiations.

The Pakistani military announced Saturday that Angoor Adda check post was handed over to the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANSDF).

A spokesman for the Pakistani military said the check post was handed over to the Afghan forces in a bid to improve bilateral relations and border management.

“To strengthen brotherly relation between Pakistan and Afghanistan and with straight intention to improve border management, purpose built crossing facility Angoor Adda handed to Afghanistan,” Gen. Asim Bajwa, director general of Inter Services Public Relations said.

Bajwa further added that “This gesture will act as a catalyst and is envisioned to bring momentum for establishing peace and stability along the Pak Afghan Border.”

He said “It was reiterated during the process, that all border related issues will be amicably resolved through mutual consultations subsequently.”

The hand over of the check post comes weeks after tensions intensified between the Afghan and Pakistani forces over the establishment of military installations breaching the zero point along the Durand Line.

The rising tensions which also led to brief clashes between the side further intensified over a week ago after the Afghan border forces stopped the Pakistani forces to fence certain areas in Torkham.

The Torkham was closed as a result of the growing tensions which was reopened after four days due to negotiations between the Afghan and Pakistani officials.

Who gave Pakistan army the authority to hand over part of Pakistan to a foreign country?

.
SO now we have started to hand over things to Afghanistan, really whats next hand over bajur and after that maybe whole FATA. WTF is going on here can somebody explain?

Bad move by our army. What a shame

exactly. This is bad bad move unless some one can really shed light as to why, Army has no fucking right to hand over things just like that. Even if this belongs to them for some extra ordinary reason it should be handed over by the government and that too not without getting something in return. We all know the hostility the Afghan government and Afghans have in general about Pakistan, there is nothing fucking brotherly about it.

No one is giving away anything. I think our army made a facility for the afghans on their side and then handed it to them. Nowhere it is mentioned that we gave away our place.

Angoor adda is one of the few border formal border crossing areas along the border.

Simply shows the positive intentions of Pakistan, further PA is not private institution so every step taken is based on approval by Govt. Good gesture on Pak side however should not have high hopes from Afghan side as India and Western Powers are fully controlling all affairs.
Beggars can't make independent decisions, the words are same for Afgh/Pak same..

On face value may not seem like a good move on part of Pakistan

But Angoor Ada extends into Afghanistan and by doing this , there is now a clearly a demarcated border post between pakistan and afghanistan

I think this is part of broader plan to have the pak-afghan border clearly demarcated , with border posts and monitored crossings

Its actually a blow to the long held narrative that the border does not exist between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

When you accept the border post you are accepting the border , its a step in the right direction.

I was thinking the same . Afghan's are indirectly accepting the durand line . Not that it matters if they accept it or not but its better for them if they don't drain their energy:)

waste of money they can build few homes for poor in PAKISTAN WITH THIS MONEY

.
Why Army handed over own border post to Afghanistan? And who gave them authority to handover Pakistan's territory to other country?

Similar arrangement existed with British India but not as a recognised border but sphere of influence.

So the afghans coming to PK via torkham when they get visa. Isn't that recognizing the border ?. I have heard this point being made on Afghan media as well. They pointed out if we don't accept durand line why do afghan's have to get visa to enter Pakistan ? I don't think that matters now because the border is being fenced and hundreds of new checkposts have been formed all over the border to check for any illegal afghans coming in .

bad move ... and without any justification .. even the retired military generals are astonished on this abrupt decision ..
