What's new

Pakistani & Indian Artillery

what is our reply to M777? and Tata guns and dhanush?

M777 is a light weight gun .. for indo chinese border... it has no advantage for LOC or Pak-indian border...

Tata is still nowhere.

Dhanush is a bofor.

We are in for more SPGs and Towed howitzers.

SIPRI claims we recieved SH-1s... no confirmation from the army.. except the sh-1 exhibited at IDEAS was used... some speculated it being brought for trail.. it was however reported back in 2012-13 that Pak had ordered 92.. SH-1s.

As of now Denel,NORA etc are competing for Pak SPGs..

Another contender is 155mm Yavuz.

Koreans upgrading our older M-114s.

While a new Advanced MLRS is under development.

Pak army wants to steam line its arty with 155mm.

Apart from that 2 more A-100 regiments have been raised.

Not sure about further procurements.

However Pak is in the market for towed guns and SPGs.

Koreans offered KH series (aswell as upgrade for older guns).

Denel with its Ts.

And SH-1s were trialled.

Its still speculation at this time.. and army is keeping quiet as usual...

Turkish Yawuz SPG trials were also observed by PA.

The 12 or so guns of 2008-9 were confirmed and given to artillery school Nowshera for test and trials I was in locAl news papers

Since then nothing 60 still is too small number for local manufacture 200 or more would make sense but no where are any signs of this gun in large number in pa

My father was an DS at Arty School when the guns came.
Initially Arty School got 2 guns.

IMO, M777 are highly potent platforms, will change the dynamics of battlefield if deployed on LOC or any mountainous terrain. We have nothing that outmatches M777 in weight and firepower.

why lightweight Howitzer has no use at loc? can you elaborate
Loc is dug in warfare , artillery regiments already in firing positions. China India border is international and artillery is way behind border and would need to quickly be brought in for early fire support thus m777 is the world's best in that

Well if they going to get M777
Pak Army shall order Chinese AH4 155mm
& at is certainly at par or Better than M777.

True... they are noce guns.

But, unless they can be placed on siachin, not much advantage..

M777 is basically a stripped down M198 so that it can be airlifted under a Chinook. Irrelevant for the LOC where artillary is permenantly based in fixed positions. Chinese already have a version of M777. The issue is that as soon as Indians buy something it becomes best in the world. Indians have been trying to change the dynamics of the battle field since 1947 and the only successes they have had are in their imagination or when they kiss their master’s a$$ for help. Like they did with the Soviets in the past and are doing it with Trump today but this time we have already shown the middle finger to Trump.
