Pakistani Hindus can now apply for long-term Indian visas online

The India government has enabled Pakistani citizens from minority communities, particularly Hindus and Sikhs, to apply for a long-term visa (LTV) online, the Times of India reported.

The online system will replace the manual system, and will also enable applicants to track the progress of their visas.

The Indian government has been taking measures to update the application process for some time to manage the applications more efficiently.

While the manual system of application will continue to operate alongside the online system for three months, applications will be received and processed online only from August 1.

Welcome move by GoI, but I have a doubt. How is the Indian Govt checking whether the Pakistanis applying are indeed Hindus/Sikhs or other persecuted minorities? Pakistani muslims can pretend to be minorities to get visa, and that will create more trouble.

India has strict rules on citizenship with respect to folks from Pakistan and Bangladesh. Look at the official OCI and PIO application form. if the article is true they are relaxing the rules for pakistani hindus.

before you throw stones at the Indian government you might be advised to look at the climate of intolerance and violence in Pakistan
