Soma's metallic fringe slides started our love affair with this shoe brand and it's blossomed into an unhealthy obsession.
Admittedly, their designs are heavily inspired (like the similarities with Nicholas Kirkwood flats on the left) but we're looking at it as more of a splurge vs steal scenario
Chapter 13
You know what they say: you get what you pay for. Even though these babies are a little on the steep side where the price is concerned, we can vouch for the quality 100%. The material, the embroidery, all of it is top notch and worth every penny.
We especially love their bedazzled flats (R)

A new kid on the block, Miaasa shoes had everyone buzzing when they unveiled their YOLO espadrilles. While we like those too, we're really digging some of the minimalistic slides they have in their collection.
We've got our eyes on these gold floral slides -- perfect to wear with jeans as well as eastern wear (L)
Zahra Habib Footwear
Zahra Habib stocks some exquisite hand-crafted sandals using silks, satins and leather decorated with swoon-worthy Swarovski crystals and other embellishments. We particularly dig her eccentric animal and insect themed flats.
Give the rishta aunties a shock with their smoking hot flats (L)

Fashion and trends are ever evolving! What was all the rage a few months back seems to disappear, as soon as some new trend hits the market. When it comes to fashion conscious women, well, they just have to be updated with all that is hot and trendy! And the easiest way to find out styles that will rule the world of fashion is of course through Fashion Weeks/Shows that are organised time and again.
Following the tradition of showcasing fashion and recent trends on a roll, this year’s Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW) Spring/Summer 2017 brought an extravagant feel to the audience. The 2-day event featured varied collections ranging from casual pret to bridal. Despite a range of designer sensibilities, trends were very much en pointe. Here are some useful fashion take-aways...
Mismatched earrings trend by Inaaya
Adornments
Go boho: Statement rings, chokers, hand cuffs, ear plugs, headbands, hair clips etc, were something to look for in FnkAsia's AVIAN collection. “The true sense was shown in a 3D embellishment with a whole lot of accessories. It's all very free spirited and very bohemian with no boundaries and no limits,” states Huma Adnan.
Surreal yet classy: The one trend featured in Inaaya’s collection, and caught the eyes of fashionistas, was the consistently mismatched earrings on the models. “It is that time when you are running out of the house because you are late; you grab the hoops from the dresser only to realize they are mismatched. And, end up not wearing any. We suggest you adorn the mismatch, because you can make anything work,” recommends Naushaba Brohi.
Hair trends
Accessorize your tresses: “The hair trends this season on the runway were more towards different hair styling from bohemian micro braids to mushroom bobs, to high pony to open waves. We also featured excessive hair accessories. There were lace, ribbon, flower crowns and pins, bird pins etc, to give a summer festive look,” shares Huma Adnan of FnkAsia
Avant-garde hair: Also, the Hair Fashion Scout II segment by Toni & Guy featured even more avant-garde hair fashion, as brought by Saeeda Mandviwala. The ramp sizzled with models having voluminous hairdos and variations of top knots and braids.
Makeup trends
Minimalism at its best: Whether it was ‘Inaaya’s’ barely there makeup, or Deepak Perwani’s fresh from the sea ‘pure’ look, everything appeared with a minimalistic touch and feel. “This season, we focused on ‘the self’, our SS17 collection, called Baatin, is an Arabic word for hidden. Taking a cue from that, styling for the show was about being comfortable in our own skin,” states Naushaba Brohi of Inaaya. “Therefore, messy up-dos, subtle makeup and the idea of barefoot models created a bizarre yet fascinating experience on the ramp.” The simplicity and casual look balanced and underscored the street chic gharara pants in flames of burnt orange and blacks.
The dewy look: FnkAsia on the other hand, had bolder appearances. “For makeup, we showcased several trends from bronze dewy skin tones to glittered lips and from gothic lips to minimal makeup and to elongating eye-liner. This summer season, it’s more like a fresh face charm with a no makeup look. I like the organic look and the moles and freckles showing,” says Huma Adnan.
Trendy outfits
Street chic: Sonya Battla nailed a millennial street chic look with her Autumn/Winter 2017 collection straight from Fashion Scout London Fashion Week. Inspired by Sufism, the tonal dyes and washed blue look was inspired by the City of the Sea, Karachi. Her collection was sustainable, using locally sourced and hand woven fabrics, including hand woven ikat. Pleating, palazzo pants, fringes and simple colour palettes defined this collection. Her designs were 'wearable' portraying freedom and eco-fashion.
Blues clues: Perwani dressed his men in blue and Battla had a beach chic palette, but ink blue was the colour spotted in FPW, paired with crisp white.
Capes & coats: Long coats were peppered throughout many designer collections, but the most stunning pieces were paired with shorter length shirts, enhancing the glamour. The shorter front with longer back silhouette automatically made the outfits more formal and sleeker. FnkAsia and Bank Alfalah’s Rising Talent contender Fatima Abdul Rauf both featured capes in a striking way. Rauf played with layers of colour and diametrical shapes, as well as experimented with folds and V formations.
Walking on air: Deepak Perwani designed a collection, which was trendy and all blue for men, and was deliberately paired with all-white for women. “The overall effect was designed to be like walking on air... which was ethereal. I enjoyed putting that effect on the ramp as I always try to let my minimalistic approach reach people,” explains Perwani.
Back with a bang: FnkAsia had bold print bell bottoms and in one outfit, even bell sleeves.
Prints & patterns: Naushaba Brohi summarizes the wide range of silhouettes at this Fashion Pakistan Week and says, “In fashion, when it comes to prints, stripes and solids are here to stay! Androgynous silhouettes are slowly finding their place centre stage!”
Go hippie: Gulabo was another brand whose collection was from Fashion Scout London Fashion Week. Featuring its truck-art inspired prints; this FPW 2017 collection recalled the ‘60s and ‘70s. The free-flowing designs and flared pants, were paired with headbands and anklets, and like Inaaya’s collection, the models were barefoot.
Sensuous layers: Perwani's collection featured some strong trends such as wrap around trousers and a double layered trouser with high slit. These cuts and drapings enhanced the celestial look, but were incredibly sensual and flattering at the same time.
Eco-fashion: In addition to the Fashion DNA programme, eco-fashion played a key role throughout FPW and even had its own segment featuring Inaaya and Nida Azwer.
