i believe you.

and the bridal dresses and their associated band-baja-baraat are anti-true-islam, anti-socialism and disharmonious and especially in a imbalanced region like the subcontinent.

such wastage of money and resources and the pollution all resulting from these weddings.

simple, five-person-attendance court weddings should be made compulsory.

if she has stopped gymming then hurrayyyy !! :D

I am totally against inviting 800 people to a wedding and spending more than your annual earning on something you wont even bemifit from in the future
Why spend so much just to show off?

absolutely.

and what if a divorce happens?? all that spending gone down the drain ( and the toilet - the 30 food items, i mean ).

this is not a proper muslim behavior at all but something that south asian muslims have borrowed from hinduism and thus among south asian muslims they say of divorce "chee !!"... in the end this is all a game of not wanting to spend money on being married multiple times within a capitalist and societally backward set up, even if the marriage is not a happy one.

and there is the psychological burden that south asian parents put on their daughters at the time of these filthy grand weddings in unspoken terms, and many times spoken, "look daughter, we are spending so much on your wedding and have called so many guests, we are doing this for you so it is now your duty to your parents that you should keep the marriage going no matter what happens, because if you complain about your marriage or heavens forbid, take divorce, then not only will we your parents be socially humiliated but also our spending on your wedding will go waste"... stupid logic they have.

though weddings must cost equally and look vulgarly grand equally in india and pakistan ( i don't know about bangladesh - @BDforever ), in india the actual cost in human terms is more because of india's dominant brahminical culture that brings a unnecessarily laborious way of life to everyone including in this case a girl's father, plus the possibility of dowry death of the girl or at least a painful married life, the father's painful efforts of paying back high-interest loans ( taken for the girl's education, her wedding expenses and her dowry ), the lesser and humiliating social position of the girl and the girl's family compared to her husband and his family ( "hum toh apne ladki ke sasural ka paani bhi nahi peete" ).

besides, there is no divorce system in hinduism.

i don't understand this, when there is the decades-old phenomenon in india called dowry death ( i don't know about pakistan ) that comes after the bride's father has spent his life's earnings on this single event called traditional marriage with minimum 300 guests attending, or even the possibility of a marriage being abusive or not happy, why do people still waste money of weddings.

It should not be just invite a few folks, say no to dowry( it starts with you saying no),promote simplicity its part of our religion and your simple marriage will set an example for others who have to spend a fortune for stupid traditions
