but so will India... an exchange of nukes will effectively destroy India also... and the way I see it India will be a greater loser in such a war...

How is India a greater loser when both especially small Pakistan is also done for?

.
Big words with less action or no actions at all are always spoken from people with hate and with no balls and that clearly dumb . Furthermore, it is not a video game that Pakistan will be finished GOD forgive if a nuke war ever happens with Paikistan & India or anywhere else in the world. Both nations will loose so much and nothing will be gained ... friendship & peace is the way forward i just don't understand why people like this dumb a$$ & others in the indian gov always talk about war & hate this & that talk about peace for once let the children of tommrow live in peace & let live unreal...

Frankly you guys are producing nuclear weapons at faster rate than anybody else in the world and then accuse us war mongering!!

What Mr Mishra has said might appear jingoistic but is common sense ..India's No First Use policy requires any nuclear first strike is responded with massive nuclear retaliation(from Sea , land and air assets) ..Pakistan's territorial depth does not offer it much leverage ..such that it will be able to absorb a dozen or so nuclear strikes.

Other than that friendship and peace is the way forward..but hey we won't be the ones to launch nuclear weapons first.

No it wasn't Brijesh mishra but Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs Vivek Katju.

Yeah yeah, we all know that.

But you got the point, right?

I think what he meant was that perhaps BM was asked a question on what India would do in case of a nuclear attack by Pakistan, and BM chose to offer this answer to that question, and the journalist decided to run the article with that headline.
i disagree.

BM is not just another guy who was picked up at random and was subjected to the question (if that indeed was the case). A seasoned guy with lot of professional experience. There are ways to deal with such questions and i am sure BM knows how to.

From another angle, Mr Akbar should also have been sane enough and avoided from asking such a question. If it was deliberate then one have the right to point out the hypocrisy in indian media. On one hand they are pampering that poor Dove in Aman ki Asha and here they 'compel' the senior to utter BS out loud.

Both ways, the indians should have avoided making it a tit for tat scenario, the same also holds guud for the Pakistani members.

Nonetheless, I do think that even if the above was the case, political leaders and officials should ignore such questions or say something along the likes of 'we don't really want to see something like that happen', 'there is an adequate deterrent to prevent that from happening' etc.

See, if a student can 'handle' the press, so can the guy.

And when we do launch first, we will launch so hard tht you will not be able to retaliate with your tiny stack of nukes.

But you will have to limit your views only till the launch because India will decide its fate in air..... Well Dear, do you Know how hard can you hit? and How easy can we neutralize it?

With deployment of sea based assets ..it no longer possible for you to neutralize our second strike capability.

when we launch our nukes they will be launched in clusters, either clusters of mixed non-nuclear and nuclear equipped missiles or just clusters of nuclear equipped missiles. you stand less than a 1% chance to prevent a nuclear holocaust on india soil. and see my signature? we won't be strking those areas which account of 3/4 of india soil. :disagree::disagree:

By Neutralize, do you mean you can also disable the warhead? and the missile will fall from the air like a harmless feather? without exploding?

Hit to kill vehicles do disable the warhead itself due to their impact velocity.

I dont buy that
Give me proper justifications? How?

A warhead is ment to explode when it hits the ground.. either way i=the warhead is hitting the ground.

Read ..
Kinetic Energy Hit-To-Kill Warhead

"The hit-to-kill or kinetic energy technology approach is based on the fact that when one object strikes another object at high speeds, a tremendous amount of destructive energy is released. The impact of an interceptor missile with an incoming tactical ballistic missile, aircraft, or cruise missile, can result in the total disintegration of both vehicles. Such impact can literally vaporize even metals. In contrast, blast-fragmentation warheads may only redirect or break up the target vehicle. However, even with a large hit-to-kill interceptor, the effective impact window is relatively small"

Besides warhead can be made to explode at any altitude..it is not necessary for it to hit the ground to explode.

In theory it seems perfect, as usual.
PAD is out of the league then, as it has proximity detonation mechanism.
But what about the actual capability of AAD? Success rate of intercepting an incoming ballistic missile can never be 100% eventually some thing will go through the shield.
Will it be effective against our MIRVs?
