Pakistan warns on critics of Sri Lanka » The Nation

Pakistan making a special statement says that those who have been critical of Sri Lanka’s effort to overcome terrorism and separatism funded from abroad would do well to look at their own track record on the so-called war on terror.

Permanent Representative of Pakistan Zameer Akram made these observations in a statement to the media on Friday commenting on the Report of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for the Human Rights on Sri Lanka

The statement said “Pakistan has always supported Sri Lanka in its efforts to overcome terrorist and separatist elements over the last 30 years. We believe that after the end of struggle against terrorism, the people of Sri Lanka deserve the support and assistance of international community to rebuild their country. Despite the challenges of last three decades, Sri Lanka has remained a free and democratic society.”

Permanent Representative of Pakistan Akram also said that the High Commissioner should also demonstrate the same alacrity that he has demonstrated regarding Sri Lanka to other cases of torture and violence in their course of countering terrorism by several major powers.

He also reminded “Within the Human Rights Council, Pakistan has always maintained that if needed recourse is to be made to a country-specific resolution to address the human rights situation, the only choice is to pursue a resolution acceptable by the country concerned. We welcome the fact that after several years this approach has been accepted by the sponsors of the resolution on Sri Lanka.”

As a sovereign and proud nation, Sri Lanka has the right to chart its own course in pursuing its domestic agenda. As a long-standing and reliable friend of Sri Lanka, Pakistan will continue to extend its unconditional support.

Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan suffer a lot from state sponsored terrorism from neighbor. I personally very happy to see Sri Lanka prosper and terror free country they have very good education system and i hope soon they emerge a shining country from Asia but they should maintain secular values in the country if state sided by one religious group the fanatics from both sides grew more powerful that is devastating for a country, we have very bad experience of that and we need decades to get back on track good luck to Sri Lanka for better future Pakistan will always with Sri Lanka as honest trustworthy friend.

Yes nice statement !!

Make sure that you follow these before preaching, otherwise it is like fooling themselves !

We both are the victim of same mental patient nation.

Nailed it bro!

I wish Sri Lanka all the best and hope Pakistan learns few good things from SL regarding education, healthcare etc.

We support you. Ignore these emotionally unstable, hyper sensitive, inferiority-complex ridden neighbors who have a physical size of an elephant but brain size of a mouse!

Atleast in case of Srilanka, they know very well that who was at the back of terrorism and which country sent its useless force to counter terrorism and failed badly. so just make some facts right before spitting venom.

Read carefully .... what I have said, Pakistan has no right to point finger at India when this nation has been using non state actors as a tool of its foreign policy.

A fine statement that shows srilanka that we are its ally nation and will support their freedom and self determination of their constitutional and sovereign government....

Both nations should increase their ties so that we can take a step forward towards making the Pearl of the Indian ocean shine again.

Similiat statement needs to come for Nepal as well to showcase our forward policy towards better relations with the south Asian governments.

India who has been running all over the world, crying like a little girl for "being the victim" of terrorism" is now telling us that we have no business exposing real Indian face to the world.

Wow!

Neighbors have all the right to disclose how India has been fanning cross-border terrorism in the neighborhood for more than 5 decades, which has resulted in 10s of thousands of deaths of innocent civilians!

Your double game is over now. The sooner you realize the better!
