Former President Hamid Karzai has said that Islamabad has two main demands from Afghanistan, to halt ties with India and formally recognized Durand Line as border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In an exclusive interview with 1TV, Karzai said the Pakistani officials have reiterated to their demands in meetings with the Afghan officials.

Karzai had almost 20 official visits to Pakistan during his leadership as the Afghan President to convince Islamabad to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan.

However, Karzai has said that Afghanistan and the Afghan people are suffering from growing violence since Kabul has continuously rejected the demands of Islamabad.

The Durand Line refers to the 2,640 kilometers long porous border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. It was established after a 1893 agreement between Mortimer Durand of British India and Afghan Amir Abdur Rahman Khan for fixing the limit of their respective spheres of influence.

It is named after Mortimer Durand who was the Foreign Secretary of colonial British India at the time. The single-page Durand Line Agreement which contains seven short articles was signed by Durand and Abdur Rahman Khan, agreeing not to exercise interference beyond the frontier Durand Line.

The treaty was to stay in force for a 100-year period. According to Afrasiab Khattak, a political analyst, the areas from the Khayber Agency Northwards to Chitral, however, remained un-demarcated.

Pakistani politicians really behaving like kids, why should afghans snub ties with India? What good it would do for afghans?

.
He was the pawn to lead that "proactive engagement" that was planned /dreamed of by his desirable friends.Look at him , he's limited to issuing statements now. While afghan people have chosen a path of peace and prosperity. It seems that Karzai sahib is unable to accept that change in those political and strategic spheres of his own country.
That "history of mistrust" is a history itself.

Hehehe! Isn't that good for the two neighbors ,karzai Sahib?
A new era of peace ,trust ,stability and economic development/cooperation between the two neighbors is all what the people of Pakistan aim for and so do the GoP.

Cry baby cry .On our western and eastern borders we know how to teach harsh lessons:lol:

That's because Pakistan is paranoid about an Indo-Afghan security pact that would have adverse security implications for Pakistan.

Imagine a scenario where Afghan Forces launch an offensive from the West and India from the South. Pakistan would be caught in a pincer. A preposterous line of thinking but that's what the Pakistanis are wary of.

Secondly, Pakistan is scared of the possibility of 'Indian supported/sponsored insurgency' using a friendly Afghanistan as a base to create trouble in Balochistan and NW/FATA etc.

Hope that answers your question as to why Pakistan wants Afghanistan to snap ties with India! Afghanistan is a sovereign country and they will do what is in the country's national interests. Pakistan's demands are silly and not worth taking note of!

if that's the case, then Pakistan's interference is quite justified my friend, after all there cant be a one sided match in politics
India & afghan can have all the ties they want, even better then Pak-afghan ties, & believe me Pakistan dose not have a problem with that, it never did, but if that relationship starts encouraging insurgencies in Baluchistan & Kpk/Fata then that cant be accepted & rightfully so,
think about it rationally would India agree to just stand by & watch, & not interfere in Bangladesh , if Bangladesh & Pakistan supports the north east insurgents ?
