Lashker-e-Taiba terrorist captured alive; Time to hit back at Pakistan? | Zee News

Delhi: BJP MP and former home secretary RK Singh said on Wednesday that India needed to hit back in order to scare Pakistan.

“Until or unless we don’t hit back, Pakistan won’t be afraid of us,” Singh said, adding, “They (Pak) don’t have control on terrorism, Military and ISIS have controls over terrorism,” as per ANI.

Singh also said, “Nawaz is not in situation to deliver it.”

A suspected Pakistani terrorist was caught alive after militants today attacked a BSF convoy on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur killing two men of the border guarding force and injuring 11 personnel while the other terrorist involved in the strike was shot dead in retaliatory fire.

The terrorist, who had escaped from the encounter site and taken three persons hostage in a school building in a nearby hamlet, was arrested after an operation was launched by the army and the police, defence sources said, as per PTI.

He is suspected to be a Lashker-e-Taiba militant.

Meanwhile, the terrorist identified as Naved said, “It's fun doing this.”

He claimed before the media that he entered the Jammu region 12 days ago along with a fellow terrorist who was killed in retaliatory fire by BSF.

This is the first suspected Pakistani terrorist to be captured alive after Ajmal Kasab, who was nabbed during the dreaded terror attack in Mumbai in 2008.

Srinagar: The captured Pakistan terrorist, identified as Usman alias Mohammad Naved, could have inflicted more harm to the Indian side, had it not been for the courage of three villagers who were taken hostage by him in Udhampur.

According to reports, the three villagers were taken hostage by Naved after he attacked a BSF convoy in Udhampur and killed two Indian troops on Wednesday.

Naved then threatened the three hostages to show him the way to a safer place where he can hide.

“Keeping me on his gun point, he asked me to take him to a place where nobody could see him. However, instead of following his order, we misled him,” Rakesh Kumar, one of the three villagers, was quoted as saying by reports.
Later, they all stopped for food as Naved was feeling hungry. Taking advantage of the situation, the three hostages overpowered Naved, forced him to ground and snatched his arms.

“Seeing the police arriving, he threatened us to let him loose. But, we kept holding him with his neck and grabbed his gun. He told us he would not harm us so long as we showed him the way to escape out. But we decided to catch him,” Vikramjit, another hostage revealed.

Naved, who says he hails from Faislabad in Pakistan, claimed before the media that he entered the Jammu region 12 days ago along with a fellow terrorist identified as Momin Khan. Khan was killed in retaliatory fire by BSF.

This is the first suspected Pakistani terrorist to be captured alive after Ajmal Kasab, who was nabbed during the dreaded terror attack in Mumbai in 2008.

While the first ceasefire violation took place at 01:25 hours in which the woman was injured and hospitalised, Pakistani troops resorted to one of the heaviest firings along the Line of Control this afternoon injuring two others.

"Pakistani troops in one of the heaviest firings used rocket projectile grenades (RPGs), mortar shells and medium machine guns in the firing along the LoC in Sabzian sector of Poonch district around 14:30 hours," a defence spokesman said.

On behalf of this august House, I take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred BSF personnel and our sympathies to those injured in this mindless act of violence. The Security Forces, including the BSF, J&K Police, and the CRPF have shown exemplary courage in thwarting the attack with minimum casualties. Besides the ex-gratia compensation and jobs to be provided to the families of the martyred BSF personnel we will also consider them and others who displayed courage and bravery in the incident for immediate award of the Gallantry Medal.

We especially salute the courage of the unarmed villagers, who despite grave risk to their lives overpowered a fully armed militant without consideration for their own security. We will take up the matter with the State Government for suitably recognizing their conspicuous act of valour.

We are confident that interrogation of the apprehended terrorist will reveal their modus operandi, including the details of their infiltration from across the border and their targets. The Government remains committed to combating terrorism with a strong resolve and ensuring the safety and security of our citizens and our security personnel.”

Four held for helping Pakistani terrorist

Four accomplices of a Pakistani terrorist captured after the August 5 Udhampur terror attack were arrested from the Kashmir Valley on Saturday, an official said.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) made the arrests after Usman alias Qasim Khan was brought to the valley to identify those who helped him reach Udhampur where he was caught.

Usman, a member of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group, was brought to the valley from Jammu region by road.

"The NIA today arrested four people from Pulwama district after Usman identified them," a police officer told IANS here.

"The NIA took Usman to Pulwama and Kulgam districts following disclosures by him. More arrests are likely to take place following the leads given by the accused," he said.

The arrested people are Fayaz Ahmed Wani and Javed Ahmed Wani - both brothers - Md Altaf Wani and Javed Ahmed Parray. All are rasidents of Pulwama district.

Fayaz Ahmed Wani and Javed Ahmed Wani were working as carpenters for a contractor in the IAF station in Awantipora while Md Altaf Wani and Parray were a salesman and a driver respactively.

Intelligence sources said the arrested people were part of a LeT sleeper cell in the Kashmir Valley.

In intelligence parlance, sleeper cells are members of a terrorist group who lie low and do not carry out any terror attacks unless ordered to do so by their handlers.

Pakistani terrorist Usman, from Faisalabad, was overpowered by villagers after he and a fellow Pakistani terrorist shot dead two Border Security Force (BSF) troopers on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Udhampur district.

The captured Pakistani is now in the custody of the NIA.

While NIA officials reached here on Friday from Delhi, Usman has been brought to establish the route he used to reach Udhampur and to identify accomplices who facilitated his passage to Udhampur. The NIA is also trying to know more about the larger LeT network in Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere in India.
