What's new

Pakistan today has successfully tested Hatf 4 Shaheen 1A

Their is nothing new in launch of A2 its just a routine launch, But development trial of A4 & A5 also schedule for this month, we just recently tested long range cruise missile as well.
India has different strategic objectives and goals and Pakistan different. It will be plain stupid to assume that Pakistan will develop and test its missile systems (or other weapon systems for that matter) vis-à-vis India. Pakistan needs to maintain a minimum deterrent/retaliatory system and so far she is going good.

It looks like they are decreasing every missile's range. Shaheen 1A had more than 1000km Range. Shaheen 2 was more than 1500Km. Theres nothing to be proud of Anymore :(

Its not my field of expertise, but range is not the most important factor in a missile's effectiveness. There are a million other systems besides engine power. If they are testing, I am sure they are not just doing it for the sake of testing. Accuracy, control and a million other parameters get tested.

Secondly, IMO Pak doesn't need to test missiles that go beyond India at this time. Why would you want to make Israel, US and the West in general uncomfortable?

guys we need to strengthen our navy.. we need destroyers and submarines .. sub cable of firing ballistic missile... we dont need to spend more money on shaheens and ghorees .. who else agree??

Mecca??are you serious??? anyways...LOL :p

Maybe it's due to environmental reasons. Long range missile burn longer, thus giving off more exhaust gases which could be toxic.
Or maybe economic reasons, becuase long range missiles need more fuel.
Or religious, becuase it could mean Mecca could come under the missile range..

Where I said that Pakistan need to match India?

I quote your post because you ask about new system in A2.

And what is new about Agni-II? Was this the first launch of a brand new Agni-II? You Sir see a long pointed cylinder flying vertically, whereas those who are into this business test things other than the simple flight (which is not simple anyway) of a missile. Test flights are done to verify the readiness of the system, its capability to reach the target undetected/un-intercepted, and ability to deliver the payload accurately. Weapon systems are continuously improved for enhancements and only because you get to see a pointed cylinder in same color scheme does not mean the strategic force is celebrating Shab-barat or shooting missiles for amusement purposes.
Agni 2 is obsolete and may be soon will be replaced by Sagarika missile.

We have tested Astra(BVR),Nirbhay(CM),Agni5(Ballistic missile),K15(SLBM),Nag(Anti tank),Helina(Air Launched anti tank missile),BARAK8(LRSAM),Akash(SAM) till now in this year.
A5 and A4 can be tested again this year.

Actually new version of Agni-2 called Agni-4 nowdays. Like new RV, possibly Mk.4. And new propulsion.

Lol Once again the same missile. Come on Pakistan show us something new. This is getting too boring, with India leaving Pakistan faaar behind. I miss those days when where there was India-Pakistan missile race.

Another idiotic comment by sardar whose peoples are a state less persecuted poor villagers that nobody gives a shit about.

Pakistan does not need any further "new" missiles...We already have everything we wanted! Entire indian strategic targets covered.

Range isn't the problem now. Now Pakistan should move to improving current designs..like improved fuel grains, more use of composite materials in construction of ballistic missile body, maneuverable warheads etc.

And that's what you see with Shaheen-1A...

Shaheen-1A has improved fuel grain and more composites than original Shaheen-1

Well you could still build an air defence missile, air to air missile. You have covered entire India, but have you covered entire range of missiles. Lol Btw don't spew hate about religion. You will be banned.

And who will provide resources for that? LOL!

There is opportunity cost to everything. We can, and have, bought bestest of the best Air-to-Air missiles in the world (AIM-120C series)...so why use limited resources on building these weapons when our resources can be put to a more effective use?

Our "home-built" air-to-air missiles won't deter a country of billion...but our nuclear strike forces armed with sophisticated home-built strategic nuclear missiles like Shaheen series will and it has!

So we are doing mighty fine there, kiddo.

Yes, our SAM coverage is not up to the task. I agree with that..

Good to know that we are updating our existing missile with upgrades.

It seems like this is the mass produced variant of shaheen IA or it may enter into mass production onwards this test
