Pakistan to use force to stop violations of its territory

Pakistan's interior minister said Wednesday his country may use military force to stop violations of its territory.

“We will not allow anyone in any case to interfere in Pakistan's territory and if this continues, we will adopt all the set measures including military action,” Rehman Malik told reporters. “I assure you we are quite capable of defending our homeland.”

Malik said he was referring to two incidents of aerial engagements from the Afghanistan side into Pakistani territory by helicopters with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force over the weekend, in which dozens of suspected militants were killed in what Pakistan said was its territory.

Islamabad strongly protested the action and sent a demarche -- a formal protest relayed through diplomatic channels -- to NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.

“These incidents are a clear violation and breach of the UN mandate under which ISAF operates. The said mandate “terminates/finishes” at the Afghanistan border. There are no agreed “hot pursuit” rules. Any impression to the contrary is not factually correct. Such violations are unacceptable,” said a statement from Pakistan's foreign affairs ministry on Monday.

“ISAF/NATO has been asked not to participate in any military action that violates the UN mandate and infringes upon Pakistan's sovereignty. In the absence of immediate corrective measures, Pakistan will be constrained to consider response options,” the statement continued.

Malik said Wednesday that Pakistan has protested the action to Afghanistan as well and will also voice its concerns to the United States.

Drones is also violation of pak air, why is this one different? perhpas they want to have a message to the public.

Yep its all topi drama IMHO. After a couple of days all will be normal. This is not the first time that NATO oil supply has been suspended or such statements by the interior ministry issued.

Is this a joke. What kind of force does Mr Interior minister plan on using.........a flying fart out of his *** to drop the incoming NATO helicopters.:disagree:

Drone strikes are with mutual understanding to kill militants. But invading another territory and killing people in "friendly fire" incidents is another ball game.

What is the difference between result of a drone strike or a heli incursion for eliminating militants ..they both serve the same purpose...which is allegedly killing militants ..either both should stop or both should be allowed?

a few drones should be shot down with SAM and rubble recovered for reverse engineering

Drone attacks are usually mutually agreed upon targets and approved from both sides... sort of pre-meditated. But "hot-pursuit" attacks are usually one sided and done in the heat of the moment. In a combat situation the forces do not want to spend time in getting the necessary permits to cross border lines.

I think a viable solution to avoid this confrontation is to have the Pakistani forces deployed on its side of the border such that whenever a hot pursuit situation arises, the NATO forces can transfer the authority to the PA at the border. This would avoid unnecessary confrontation in a war that both sides are fighting and also achieve its goals.

Another BS thread::: Source is TEHRAN TIMES...

Rightly said but you have ignored the trust deficit...Had there been no trust deficit there was no reason for even drone attacks, no???

What makes you think that the chopper attacks are without mutual understanding. There were similar noises made by GoP when the drone attacks began...

Dont know whether to laugh or feel sorry..

Chest thumping aside, there is no way even Kayani can afford to upset the Americans. They can get up and go from Afghanistan and that will be the end of their need for Pakistan.

Pakistan on the other hand will have a tough time managing in a world where American dollars are no longer available..
