I remember a quote from a pakistani defence representative at an exhibition. 'Pakistan has no indutrial interest in the j-10'.

Unless there is a major change in the number of j-10's being purchased this should not change.

Yes, it would be desirable to have them assembled in Pakistan at least.

Thats like USA allowing JSF production in say Japan or UK .

New technology can be transferred but at huge cost eg RAFALE to india with 100% TOT will cost $12 billion.

I think the next batch from China is correct. We will receive another 10 around end of this year and produce 15 in Pakistan. It is expected that next year June we will have:

8 + 6 + 10 + 15 + 6 + 5= 50... The electronics of batch II will be finalised before end of this year so the next production will have that after june 2010...


About J10. We will have knocked down kits. We will have to integrate the electronics in Pakistan. So we do not build the plane but assemble it. It wil be possible cause the plane share a lot of technology and we will use the assembly knowledge for better maintenance. The factories that did Mirage/F6 maintenance are otherwise out of work.


So the reporter did not know the facts but it is not bad if you can read between the lines.

I think its just that he (reporter) didn't have a clue of what he was writing. I don't think PAF would be going into so many variants or stuff like that.

It would take some time for PAC to digest what it has learnt from the JF-17 project and that should be its number one priority. FC-20 are not being obtained in large numbers (atleast of now) and I don't think we will be involved much in it. We might just ask for some maintenance/partial overhauling capabilities at the most but honestly we do not have the money and resources to digest such technologies in quick succession.

we have just started to wet our hands on the JF-17 production and people are already jumping the gun. its good to think about the future, but there has to be some realism involved!

until know we got handfull of JF 17 still have to go the number of 250 yearly now we r getting 6 to 8 fighter jet if this speed is happen to be than JF 17 willl finish its batch in 10 years after that PAC needs 1 to 2 years to start manufacture and after start will begin than still 5 years needed to induct them it means 16 years oh crap untill than IAF have some better fighter jets than J 10 will be no match if PAf rewaly serious to make its skies safe we should induct tehm in 3 to4 years

Remember PAF had to drop plans to manufacture/Assmble K8s to concentrate on Jf17s. It just goes to show the limited manufacturing base we have. This is nothing more than sensationalist pakistani press and its dreams.Even if we get 100 FC20s we will not require an assembly line for it. However, what is Possible as posted earlier is that PAf will integrate western avionics/weapons suit into FC20 and this may well be done in pakistan. Otherthan this PAF is a customer for FC20s.

i hope that paf should wear thinking cap and think positvely im so angry that how much billions we put in jf 17 but still after so many years we just have handfull of them it is tottal wast of money either paf start buying them from china or speed up manufacturing them

But with the time requirments r changed. As u knw chines avionics dont fulfil PAF needs so they will use western stuff
Secondly, JF-17 is nt in servise its in test phase so J-10 is far away
As u knw J-10 vl b deliverd by 2014-2015 n there is abt 6 years gap so PAF can make upgradation in design n change its needs
Production is beyond the 2015 then Mirage n F-7 will be replaced with JF-17 n mirage factory vl be free to set assembly line of J-10

As u said we hv not a big numbr order, its correct but PAF vl check it n order may be incread to abt 100 instead 36 FC-20
