Pakistan to get high-tech air defence system

32 early 1980s F-16 armed with short range AIM-9 Sidewinders versus about 60 Su-30MKIs, 70 Mig-29s, 50 mirage 2000s plus 125 Mig-21"Bisons" all equipped with BVR missles :P
.

Maybe, the people who has the 'motive' and the 'higher calling' will have the all-mighting making all those BVR missile's fizzle out.

Give it a go...then:tup: ....last time i remember....one lost in the air and other bailed out......in hands of Pak army personnel:angel: you guyzz could'nt even go through land base air-defence........i would wonder..what would have happened incase of the airforce itself?:P

Please do tell what you are referring to......is it Kargil?

Is that the war in which the PAF was too scared to show up and protect the hapless Pakistani Army from getting bombed by the IAF?

Or was it the freedom fighters only participated? and none of them knew how to pilot an F-16?

Well India did end up calling their air force to fight irregulars and a Pakistan Army strained after some 9 years of embargoes...BTW, what happened to the Indian pilot who shot down that unarmed Atlantic?

Melby,

Fishbed summed it up well,
what happened to Atantique.
One MiG-27 flame out, One Helicopter Hit, One MiG-21 Hit. Out of How many IAF runs, I could call it poor % of success in comparison with sortie rate of IAF. IAF were the attacker's and they got their job done, there will be losses. So your point is?

PS: About giving it a go, Atleast come up in the air, so we can engage you. We were up in the air in Kargil, where were you guys...
2 F-16's chickened out; when 2 MiG-29 BVR locked them...

I dont know what happened to the Indian pilot who shot down the Atlantique Recon plane (I read on this forum somewhere that he was killed in an accident, but I cannot confirm it), anyways but does that have to do with what we are discussing now?

Can anybody answer these two questions:

1. Where was the PAF in the Kargil war? Why didnt they protect the Pakistani army?

2. If war was to break out now how would 32 early 1980s F-16 armed with short range AIM-9 Sidewinders prevent about 60 Su-30MKIs, 70 Mig-29s, 50 mirage 2000s plus 125 Mig-21"Bisons" all equipped with BVR missles from gaining air superiority over Pakistan?

He died in a Crash, Rest in Peace his soul; just to confirm RIP to all the atlantique crew, They are soldiers, they did their job and they died.

Mark you are good forumer, on my lurking days, i have read your posts for 4 years

Now,

Excuses, Excuses, If you are not as good as enemy then dont go fight them, When you get a thrashing dont start yelling we were embargoed and all the other excuses, if you were not ready, then why come in the first place.

Why did PAF bomb the madarassa killing 80, and you blame the India for using its airforce to engage 3000 and more intruders.

Melby...

ndian MiG-29s saw action during the Kargil War in Kashmir. They provided fighter escort for Mirage 2000s dropping laser-guided bombs on enemy targets and played a major role in maintaining the air superiority. It is reported that when a MiG-29 made radar lock on Pakistani F-16s at long range the Pakistani aircraft chose to depart the area.

Many pundits, such as the Federation of American Scientists , assert that in an individual dogfight, the MiG-29 is potentially better than the F-15 Eagle or F-16 Fighting Falcon. MiG-29s of the German Luftwaffe have demonstrated their advantage in within-visual-range (WVR) engagements during training missions against Western F-14, F-15, F-16 and F/A-18 fighters

Mate, PakSniper already answered your question. AIM-120C AMRAAM is being bought together with the block 52 F-16C/D for Air to Air role only.

I didn't get what you meant? I already know that, I was just pointing out that the AIM-120C is ground launch capable and has mobile capability.

But lost in the end by country 1/3 of its size and 1/3 of its capability.

Indians Lost Kargil...world biggest lol@U, Google any neutral or Indian source, Pakistani i dont think so, its military has been keeping its people hostage to the real truth for a long time. It has promised so much, yet delieverd pretty much nothing. Poor Pakistani's have believed them and given them everything even their own freedom

It would be better for you to learn from your mistakes, come back and fight another day; than this seriously.

My god I knew the Indian flock would come back...

What happened to PAF during Kargil?

Let me see last time I read it was suppose to be a under-cover OP using only Militia's and PN and PAF weren't permitted to fly or stream the Indian ocean, wheres this proof of MiG-29 locking on F-16 and it running away, is that another Indian news article you read to keep your spirits high. Lol, militants didn't even need an air force and still took you on, and you claim success after we withdrew, 4 Indian divisions and AF against few thousand ill equipped foot militia's.

During war time Russian planes didn't prove anything, in Europe Serbia is one example, lol.

Lol, Trashing? I wonder who had a hard time getting back a few hill points. Pakistan took on India knowing we can, Mark was just making the point we have been under embargo and were still able to do our work.

Oh, and know those Indian planes crossed in Pakistani air space and were shot down.

You should learn somethings, before opening your mouth or you would end up like other MiG planes.

Refrain from talking about wild dreams or you will end up in the trash can.

Thanks.

1. Why does the Pakistani Army launch under-cover operations and use militas? Is is afraid of fighting India in a full scale war because it may loose?

2. What were Pakistan's objectives in launching the Kargil incursion? Were any of them achieved?

3. You wanted proof of Mig-29s locking onto F-16s? here it is:
http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/article_327.shtml

Read the second last entry:
May99 223 Sqn MiG-29 G.Chibber Lock-on 2xF-16 ?Sqn/PAF

Its from a neutral source so dont complain.

4. Russian planes are all junk right? What were the last planes purchased by the PAF? I think they were F-7s from China in 2002 which are based on a 1950s designed junk called Mig-21!

In the 1971 Indo-Pak war when Mig-21s faced F-104s, the F-104 lost everytime, another proof of Russian junk.

In the Vietnam war subsonic Mig-17s armed with only cannon shot down Mach 2 capable, Radar and Missile equipped F-4s of the USAF, another shining example how Russian planes are pure junk!:azn:

Can anyone refute these points?
