Pakistan to Begin Financial Negotiations for Turkish T129 Helicopter Purchase

. .
Israel also had their homegrown Kfirs once upon a time.
India has its own too, despite they are importing other platforms.
So does Korea & Japan.

Why Turkey should be an exception on such?

It's not about importing, the question is why they will go for JF-17 when they have resource and access to much better jets. If it's about risk of sanctions than why they will not speed up development of their own jet development?

PS: I of course will be happy if they buy Thunders

Two issues with this helicopter:

  1. In 2013, media reports claimed that the first batch of helicopters delivered to Turkish Army for trials did not meet the requirements of the contract, specifically in terms of "vibration, balance, weight". The T129 was nose-heavy; to resolve this, 137 kg was added to the tail, causing the total weight to exceed the specified requirement. The higher weight may decrease the T129's service ceiling, which is detrimental for operating under hot and high conditions,
  2. the T129's LHTEC CTS800-4N gives the United Statesa veto over any prospective export sales...CTS800-4N engines are under licence

I listed a couple concerns. I never said don't buy them. What are your thoughts about that issue?

In the last couple of years this Helo has been tried extensively in the hot and high environment in Pakistan and was very successful. So there are no problems with hot and high performance.
The engine is the responsibility of the Turkish Government. If they had a sense that it would be Vetoed they would not have wasted time with Pakistan. So both these problems are actually not troublesome for Turkey or Pakistan.

There were additional weights on the helicopter sent to Pakistan for testing. Since these helicopter tests pass successfully, there should be no problem with hot and high performance.

The problem with the engine is not expected for now. But in order to solve the problem completely, we will have to produce our domestic motors

What about other helicopters Pakistan is considering?
Polish W-3 Sokol (Falcon) multi-purpose combat helicopter and Kazan Ansat Russian light multipurpose helicopter?

.
You mention engine tech like it's nothing

Turkish Engine Industry TEI develops 1400 hp turboshaft engine for Turkish Aerospace Industries Helicopter Projects

TAI T-625 6 tons class Utility Helicopter Project

and $430 billion of external debt is not a big problem for $860 billion of Turkish GDP

even tiny Netherhlans has $2.5 trillion of external debt ,, tiny Belgium has $1.5 trillion of external debt
