Pakistan teaches France a $25 bln lesson for delays on JF-17 parts

There is static on the French Connection.
Pakistani JF-17 parts: What’s behind ornery French skulduggery

There are rumors and media reports that Pakistan has retaliated against France for delaying the signing of the parts for the JF-17 thunders. A couple of weeks ago France under pressure from Bharat delayed or canceled the transfer of parts for the Pakistani redesigned JF-17 Thunders.

The Pakistan government has delayed an energy deal, due to be signed on April 15, with French company GDF Suez. The Pakistani Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources in February awarded a contract worth up to US$25 billion to GDF Suez to import 3.75 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for up to 20 years. The LNG from Qatar was to be imported at a price of $1.8 billion in the first six years.

The French leader President Sarkozy is scheduled to visit Pakistan to sort out the matter of the further sales of the Augusta Submarines. The Pakistan Navy wanted to buy the 214 German Subs. However a tangled web of mystery ended up with Pakistan seeking the French subs.

Now that deal may also be in jeopardy. Unless President Sarkozy plans a quid pro quo, both the Submarine and gas contracts will go to German and Chinese companies.

Nice! N’est pas?

There is a disjunction between private and public French posturing. Islamabad is used to French double-dealing, duplicity, and equivocation. In the 80s France backed out a Nuclear Reprocessing plant deal with Pakistan–under US pressure. Pakistanis totally get it. They know French polysyllabic profundity to the core. This last sleight-of-hand scurvy trick is typical of France’s subterfuge and deceitful fakement. The French turpitude on putting a $1.6 billion deal for Pakistan “on hold” was seen for what it was— silly surreptitious trickery by Sarkozy and gang to secure the lucrative Bharati (aka Indian) deal first and put then pressure on Pakistan to force Islamabad to buy the Scorpians/Augustas rather than the German 214 Submarines.

Now Pakistan has raised the stakes.

If Mr. Sarkozy wants to lose the $20 billion Suez deal, he can continue to pander to Delhi.

In 2008 Pakistan Navy under chief of naval staff Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir made efforts for including German 214 Class submarines in its fleet and owing to Navy’s persistent efforts, the government had approved plans for acquisition of these submarines to be built at Karachi Shipyard under transfer of technology programme.

The details were later worked out between the two countries when a Pakistan Navy delegation visited Germany in April.

However recently quoting Pakistani government sources, the Financial Times Deutschland says President Asif Zardari may overrule his military’s preference for the German subs to take up a “better offer” from France.

If Mr. Sarkozy does not play ball and ships the JF-17 Thunder parts ”tout de suite”, France will lose a major deal with Pakistan.

Want to play hard Ball? Bein Sur!

How about them apples Sarkozy? Vour comprenez?

This thread is based on a year old news. This topic was throughly discussed including your question. I think this thread merits to be closed.

Hi, and old article, debated to death also, and not very true. Pakistan is in no financial position to teach any country a fiscal lesson. Pakistan is surviving on handouts and is struggling to not default. Just the sad reality of the current Pakistani leadership and their management.

Have you noticied when it comes to defence there is hardly a shortage of funds despite the IMF and every thing else. Case in point $ 5 billion deal for new F16s plus MLUs for existing F16s plus full range of armaments resulting in close to nearly 100 Blk 50+ F 16s. 50+ JF 17s. 36+ FC-20s. This is when you guys are still dancing with potential supliers for MRCA and sitting on a failed LCA project. 2 new plotonium reactors a fourth one on is way with 100+ nuclear weapons i.e. more than India. Continued increase in quality and quantity of delivery assets. Not to talk about continiued production of MBTs, MRLs & Frigates etc. etc. Plus new and upgraded air and missiles bases across the country. New investment in production and launch facilities across the countries with underground and tunneled facilities all over the country. Do a Google Earth search for Jacobabad, Kashmore, Kirthar, Kamra, Skardu, Fateh Jang, Attock, DG Khan, Kinara and many more lcoations deep inside Sindh and Baluchistan etc. The problem with you Indians is that you have ended up believing your own propaganda. We take money from IMF, from the US, from China and from the Arabs and we use it against India so my advise you guys is don't get too overconfident and arrogant because the West and the US love you these days and is pumping you up, we have many surprises up our sleeves. We contributed to demise of your previous masters i.e. Soviet Union, now we have the balls of you current masters in Afghanistan. If we can can take on your masters and survive, we can also take you on and survive.

If France (Rafale jet) lost in MRCA race, they will likely change their mind to supply spare parts to Pakistan. $$$

Your desire to box above your weight category and try to match India has landed you in between rock and a hard palce..where on one side you are being bombed by your former allies(Taliban) on the other hand also have the honor of being only US ally, which it regularly bombs.
Infact Pakistan is only one of three perpetual national security states in the world ..where spending on defense far exceeds the spending wellbeing of citizens..so much so that 60% of its budget is spent on defence and paying off loans(that it borrowed to match India)

so maybe you like your present situation, but we sure as hell won't like to be in your shoes.

Go read up on your history. India was alway richer and wealthier than the nations who conquered and rule it for thousands of years. I hope you guys work hard and collect a whole bunch of wealth and riches. More of a reason for us to grab it as we always have in the past. The other problem with you guys is that you still subscribe to the world bank/ IMF/western criteria for success which only has few of decades of history behind it. Historical and civilizational shifts of the type we are going through right now don't follow these rules. Be the nice, rule abiding, subservient global citizens doing back office work for the white man and wait until a more aggressive people who don't follow the acceptable rules and conventions come after you. It is just a matter of time. You know you will loose. History is full of examples of nations who boxed over thier weight and won - the Arabs, the Afghans, the Turks, the Mongols, the English etc. etc. On the other hand Indians stand out for having lost to smaller and weaker forces more than any other nation in the world.
