What's new

Pakistan Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud killed in drone strike.

If the peace talks were so important why hasn't the Pak govt made one single move to start the process yet? It's clear that the GOP was waiting for a chance to kill this dog all along.

The GOP and PA aren't stupid. If they can run the country, rig elections, steal billions under the people's noses they are smart enough to deal with some jahil nutcases. I wondered why NS was being so quiet - so many people on this forum criticised GOP for talking peace from a position of weakness and that you can't negotiate with animals. NS has shown that even he understands this.

And please! is anyone in Pak still naive enough to think that US drones can target these areas without govt support?
well i think Nawaz ne America ja k Hakeem ki Supari di thi Obama ko....

Rather than being demoralized this might be a rallying point for them and any splinter groups will join up. They might decide to open multiple fronts up with their Punjabi offshoot as well. Perhaps even Karachi would erupt since the Rangers were too busy in cleaning criminals they forgot terrorists. So as such, this strike does not bode well for us by any normal analysis. Perhaps in some hopeful land beyond the burqa trees there is a chance that they are in utter disarray after this strike and end up throwing down arms and saying sorry.
At this point, we have no idea of their response other than speculation but in all certainty it will be bad. The Afghan Taliban might end up tolerating the Karzai government and they'll handle their troubles as they always do on their own. What we will be left with is a possibly 100000+ strong force of well trained militants throughout Pakistan along with 3-4 million more "Almost willing" supporters who will gladly ruin any chance of an economic recovery.
sorry,
if you think that, by not attacking or destroying the terrorists commanders would do any favours to pakistan, then just wake up?
terrorists are there after this strike, they will be there even if its nt be happening?
what we need as nation is to stop, declaring them the angels from the gods army, cause they are not?
better choice is, to kill them then to kiss thier dirty feets?

.
For God sakes we have one of the most toughest and well drilled military machines out there,
.

To use a quote on Pakistani leadership(both civil and military).
"An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep"

All that drilling and toughness in the troops is for naught when their leaders are sheep. Our past record in wars is testament to it.

You did not even understand the post. The problem is these actions coming at the heels of such negotiations. If there was to be an attack then it should have been done earlier or the promise of negotiations not have bee made. Here, you had the progressive political parties all ready to talk peace with "animals" and out of nowhere this happens. In essence, it will lead to further alienation of the population of FATA and perhaps KP.. greater resurgence of Punjabi Taliban and even more support from the population for no military response to this threat. Now if you try a military operation there will be greater opposition than perhaps from failed talks where the true colors of TTP would come out public despite our various Mullah's best attempts to paint them as angels. At least with failed talks you could show the nation who these animals were.. now they are closer to being widely accepted as "fauj-e-Khurasaan" then before since this attack makes them quasi martyrs in the eyes of our dumb populous.

You still haven't understood the question in the post: was this is best time to have him killed? when you are pressing for negotiations(even if that is a bad strategy) you are creating an atmosphere in the populous that expects that. Karachi , Lahore or Peshawar are not all people settled in DHA and Cantt areas. There are people with radical views in these cities and other people who dont like the TTP but also blame the military operations for economic trouble. Their elected representatives were pressed for a peace process and would not support a military operation in parliament or otherwise. Neither would there be support for the operation by their voters who simply are tired of being blown up and their lives ruined. Yes, the solution could be achieved by military operations eventually but the general picture(true or not) is that the military has FAILED to contain them and now there is another solution needed.
A failed negotiation would have changed the populations mind on the military operation and perhaps it would have had support for it. But right now, the population will NOT support a military operation and as such instead of being saviours the Pakistani Army will be seen as a menace and problem.

in war, you do not wait for enemy to finish his cup of tea, for his kill?
did TTp waited, for the PAKARMY mjr genrl?
was thats the perfect time, to do that?
sorry friend, you never was a soilder!
its simple the chance you get, & the bullet you fire?
militry ops , only happened when terrosists went all out like in sawat?
but they were never directed to take them out totaly, cause the politicians in power never wanted it, as they fear that militry will become without job & will strat watching thier crouptions?
we have to think the majority poppulous & thier thinking, not the minority which lives in caves or caves like places in the ends of mega cities?

By the looks of your posts, neither were you. So stop hiding behind repeated arguments like a copy paste mullah and pretending to be some Clausewitz and try to comprehend the point being made.

Lol.. where is the audience for this drama of yours. Pai, seedha jawab is what is required instead of trying to imitate a speech from the dark knight. A straightforward answer could be "I Dont know but I am too stubborn to say I cant think of it" or if you really had an answer it could be " I think the strike has lesser implications for the support of military operations and greater implications for US-Pakistan relations". I really dont care for movie dialogues from supposed military glory.
