NESCOM Burraq

Burraq
(Urdu: براق ‎) is an advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by a venture of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and the National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM), a civilian defence research and development organisation of Pakistan.[1] The name Burraq (Arabic: البُراق‎ al-Burāq "lightning") refers to a type of winged steed, described as a creature from the heavens which transported the Islamic prophet Muhammad - Isra and Mi'raj.

In May 2009 the Burraq UCAV was reported to be undergoing flight testing and would be armed with a new laser-guided ASM missiles and laser designator, also designed by NESCOM.[1]

On 13th March 2015 the Burraq was for the first time officially shown demonstrating targeting in a drill using a laser guided missile, in photos released by Inter-Services Public Relations, the public relations department of the Pakistan Armed Forces. According to them the Burraq is "all weather capable" and has "pinpoint accuracy."

The same thing when you see Euro fighter for example, 4 different nations are making the same each one is specializing in some parts of it. The end result is a common fighter jet, or a UCAV in this instance.

This is BS .. 1 SQD is already in service with the army ... And it was developed by NDC (national defence complex) & SPD.

Congratulations !

Last year I met a frnd .. And at that time a satlink project for UAVs was nearing completion. .. developed by SUPARCO ..

DRDO was also copying the sys. ... ???

And this is still under development.. :D

This was simply a test. Any idea when these drones will become operational?
1 SQD is already in service .

Apart from the BURAQ UCAV, i am also pretty much interested in BARK missile. Any information about this missile will be appreciated. :)
Nothing???
@Horus @Oscar
I hoped you guys would have dig something up by now :)
We have been hearing about NESCOM working on some lighter weight laser guided missiles for UCAV but little more information will be great. Range for instance. If it is good enough we may see helicopters equipped with it in due course.

If the missile is influenced or a copy of Chinese AR-1 missile (that is used with chinese CH-3 UCAV) then that is reported to be able to carry a range of seekers. What about ours? will it be a true fire and forget missiles?

@Oscar

Burraq's airframe seems larger than CH-3
I don't think we can really find it out from the picture. The angel from which the image is taken, the distance are a few things that will come into play. Furthermore CH-3 have a reported wing span of 8m and this image also do not looks much larger than that.

A great achievement indeed but now NESCOM and PAF have to ensure that they further improve is platform either by collaborating with turks or chinese and look forward at exporting it. If we are able to prove Burraq and Burq's capabilities against TTP them arabs will be more than happy to use it against ISIS.

But is this not already a Joint Pak-China Project? So Chinese support would obviously be taken for an upgrade.

Right Indian posters, if you wish to talk about Indian UAV projects please create a thread for it, in the appropriate section. Even after two freindly notices you are not taking notice. That is disrespectful.

Kinetic, please read earlier posts.
