Pakistan slams India, others for demanding permanent UNSC membership

.
The grapes must be really sour!! Oh Pakistan!

UNSC Permanent membership would be nice, but its not the end all be all, especially in the current fast changing geo-poli landscape with the UN fast losing its teeth. The veto would be nice, but it doesn't change anything on the ground for India. China still has a veto and even if India were in the UNSC today, China could veto moves such as banning Azhar. So situation remains unchanged.
As far as motions against India are concerned, I'm sure we can rally one of our allies to throw in a veto for us. In the past we counted on Russia. In the future we can use them, US or France. Not a problem.

Being in a coveted grouping with the likes of Germany, Brazil and Japan is an honor though. I'm glad we are moving in the right direction.

As far as NSG is concerned. Its like being in a "friends with benefits relationship". India get all the goodies, just not the tag of being in a "relationship". I wouldn't be too sad with the arrangement!

Pretty perfect description all around. Well played.

Though I feel strongly for India but on principles I totally support what Ms Maleha Lodhi has said. We should stand for democracy at UNO.

It is always amusing to see countries like tuvalu, liechensttein etc put out grandiose statements. Pakistani 'ambasadors' speechifying in teh UN is even less credible. But she gets her 7 minutes or whatever - allows others to take a bio break

there is only and ONLY one way of becoming worthy of the permanent veto seat and that is to beat the living daylights out of a major super power, not by begging for it like india does. germany and japan were super powers but russia, u.s. england and france beat the living snot out of them albeit it very expensive costs. Bear in mind, China did NOT have any veto power after the u.n. was formed. China only got it after China beat the living snot out of the united states in korea and stared the ussr down in many many military confrontations.

u.s., france, u.s.s.r. and england had no choice left BUT to hand the permanent seat along with the veto power to China on a silver platter!

If India can't beat anyone. It can always gradually modify a Wikipedia article to create a victory over a major power.

yup, agreed. I've even read some laughable blogs by I dunno, some retired indian army major suckdeep singh or something or rather where he claimed that the 1962 war went exactly as india wanted cuz india succeeded in making China expend a lot of their ammunitions that otherwise would've been given to Pakistan. And I was like...

this explains the indian mindset very well:

Indians have been creating alternative fact for a long time. Way before Trump.
