Just this week, Pakistani General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) visited a Military Test Site in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine and witnessed field tests of various combat vehicles and systems.

Chief of Army Staff had indicated strong interest in the test performance of the Ukrainian modern weapon system, among which he highlighted the newest Oplot tank and the Skif anti-tank system (an export modification of the Stugna missile system).
“Pakistan is keen to enhance defense cooperation with Ukraine on the basis of Transfer of Technology and Joint Ventures in future as both sides can benefit from each other’s experience,” said Spokesperson Pakistan Armed Forces.

Both sides agreed to further optimize military to military ties particularly in defense production, training, counter-terrorism and intelligence domains.

Hmmmm... Could this sudden interest in the oplot m mean the production capacity of the malshyev factory improved to pump out more oplots per annum?

Also skif atgms would be a big thing if we get those. It would become our 2nd most powerful atgm in the invent, behind the Kornet e

So there's another reason for the COAS' visit?
I am just going by the wordings of the article. Every thread becomes a wish list even if only interest is shown. If PA has to become an armored force of 1000 T80s and 1000 VT4s then why even bother with AK series or upgrade 59 to AZ.

The question is are we interested in Oplot tank or some systems which are in it. If we are interested in whole Tank then there could be two reasons for it. First Pakistan Army plans to get rid of Al Zarrar and Type 85 tanks and transfer them to Para Military Forces and induct OPLOT and VT 4 and AL KHALID as our main Battle Tanks. The second reason could be that we are not going to develop Al Khalid II tank but instead buy OPLOT as AL KHALID II.
