Pakistan seeks seat on UN Security Council

Why the hell not? Pakistan has every right to strive for a UNSC seat.

Of course Pakistan have the right to get a non permanent member . wasn't Pakistan a member of security council in last 64 years ?

FM mentioned the right to have a permanent member seat, non permanent member seat rotates...

Pakistan deserves a seat as it is one of the most powerful Islamic country with nuclear power. India and Pakistan both deserve a seat. Though I am not sure any of them would get veto power.

This is probably motivated by china. How can Pakistan hope to gain a UNSC seat when it is the single country being criticized for all the problems in the world these days. I am being extremely blunt here.

hmm...why not..go for that...but don't forget the first thing you need is support of US of A,Russia,France and Britain.....and then not to forget Germany,India,Brazil and Japan{remember Coffee club}......

India,Germany,Portugal,South Africa,Colombia are gonna be members in 2012...and Japan is seeking for the membership in 2016.not a big deal..any country can seek for a non permanent membership

for now Bosnia,Brazil,Columbia,Lebanon,Nigeria,Gabon are non permanent members of UNSC

There are many issues:

As pakistan regularly seeks aid/donations etc. its not upto the level of a nation that suits in UNSC. It should start giving aid to few nation and show itself as a caring and responsible nation.

The soft power is the next issue the people, culture, traditions etc. represent that segment.

It is connected with the image of a nation but pakistan gets bad publicity due to the fact that many pakistanis or people of pakistani origin tries to destabilize world or bomb countries like USA, UK, India, Afghanistan etc. etc.

These people brings bad name and create bad image.

there are many more issues.

Things have to settle down and it will take 10-15 years at least if pakistan moves in right direction.

Then, why not pakistan can UNSC seat.

A seat in UN security council in today's world doesn't mean much .... India and Pakistan should stop hatred towards each other and work towards removing poverty and work towards progress .... eventually the whole world will respect a strong nation with strong economy .... if we fight amongst ourselves we only help the other nations who want us to quarrel so that they can sell their weapons and get their nations rich !!!

She is asking for a non permanent seat. Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan are contesting for the Asian seat on the 15-member council being vacated by Lebanon. The election will take place Oct 21.
