Pakistan seeks Russian help in modernizing engine repair facilities & attain RD93 repair capability

No, not one chance in a million. We won't let it happen.
Preventing the engines from actually being sold to Pakistan would have been the bigger kicker, which India was unable to prevent. Engine repair and overhaul facilities and training are nowhere close to as critical as actual engines, so yeah, India is going to let this happen because there is little to no chance of it stopping it.

@amardeep mishra Pakistan now boosting about making jet engine

Hi @11ping
I dont think there is anything wrong in speculation or even dreaming but one must never loose hold of reality! Jet engines is a very secretive affair-period! no debate further! I happen to know a couple of folks who have contributed immensely in indian gas turbine field. One of the professors here filed a patent for prediction of combustion instability in gas turbine engines-a phenonon that is not so well understood.India with such a huge background in gas turbine research and is still struggling with 85kN engine means something and that is NO country however close it is to you will share their turbine technology! Let alone sharing the metallurgical process of making HC blades or thermal barrier coating, blisk etc - they wont let you even copy the design or arrangement of igniters in their combustion chamber- because the arrangement of ignitors helps in preventing the combustion instability. Russia will simply "sell" their engines to whomsoever they deem fit but sharing technology-a big no!to be brutally honest it will take a good two decades before pakistan even gets the basics of turbine technology right and start investing in their own gas turbine program! The problem with average pakistanis is ,lack of strong technical education/industrial research and that coupled with viel of secrecy(everywhere, imposed by all powerful PA) hinders their perception of how things actually get designed anywhere else in the world! They tend to rely on fancy stories more than an average indian would do!

The fatel End of KAVERI is best exampl
hi dear @pakeye
let me take this opportunity to explain as to why exactly kaveri couldnt perform the way it was designed-it has something to do with a phenomenon known as acustic instability- a kind of combustion instability that develops when the frequency of flame matches with that of natural frequency of your duct(combustion chamber). This can be a big pain in the a** to remove and most importantly you can not copy someone else's technique to mitigate that.Because most of the prevention techniques are all patented! But if we view the kaveri program(that gulped away close to $500mn) in itz entireity - it taught GTRE a lot of things- and that is rich wealth of technical data that no country shares with you! that is the reason why GTRE is now working on different classes of turbofan engines now that will embibe the lessons learnt from kaveri program

If only we can absorb the TOT for RD-93, imagine the wonders PAF could achieve with an in house engine manufacturing facility.

And you know us better than ourselves through your Lungi Media :p: Kid grow up..Its time to look beyond slums of India..!
Ohh yes we have moved beyond slums and are developing and fastest growing economy but you my friend are still stuck in failed nation hypnosis.
You have to grow up first then you can talk about yourself.
Yawn.... If one doesn't build any engine in the past doesn't mean it can't do in the Future... How many Engines India is building for the Jets? No wonder half of your Su-30 is grounded
Tell me my friend have you ever made a mopped engine in Pakistan or just a engine for bicycles. Well what van we expect from your nation if it can't even make a bike engine let alone aircraft engine.

A Russian engine is being installed in Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder fighter jet which inspires hope for cooperation between the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and the Russian engine maker, a PAC representative said on Monday.

Russia-Pakistan Military Cooperation Not Threatening Relations With India
“As we know, a Russian engine is being installed on the JF-17 Thunder and we are looking forward to further cooperation with the engine manufacturer in Russia,” the Pakistani official told RIA Novosti news agency on the sidelines of the 2015 Dubai Air Show on Monday.
The PAC representative expressed interest in having Pakistani engine specialists undergo training in Russia and their Russian colleagues helping modernize the company’s engine-repair facilities in Pakistan.

The JF-17 all-weather multirole fighter, jointly developed by Pakistan and China’s Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation, is currently being modified with a Russian-made RD-93 engine.

Founded in 1971 by the Pakistan Air Force, the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex is a major aerospace, defense, aviation contractor and military corporation producing aerial systems for both military and civilian usage.

sounds like the logical next step to have a in-house facility to repair and overhaul RD93 engines as JFT will be the work horse of the PAF for the next 25 years. PAF did it with the mirage ATAR engines and the Chinese engines for the F6 and F7 aircraft.

The same people who according to some would block the re-sale of RD-93 to Pakistan.

Having a repair and overhaul facility is one thing and having the technological capability to design a metallurgical process to manufacture HC blades, thermal barrier coating ,blisk is entirely another! The report merely points to the "wish" of certain PAC official regarding the possibility of an overhauling facility in pakistan. Pakistan doesnt even have a program to manufacture car engine or rotary wankel engine(for use in smaller uavs) and we are talking gas turbines?great!

Guess no problems with that ?

Kaveri is not the only engine that we have developed and to your surprise Kaveri has its applications as well and generates equal if not more power than your current engine for JF-17. If that is a fatal end then so is the engine powering your aircraft.

India was not 'unable to prevent'. There is another 25 billion cheque writer called China involved. Overhaul etc. guess can go forward. The original title of the thread was misleading.

loyalty is for dogs only ,If some thinks buying multibillion $ equipment gives you leverage think again every country has its own position and value e.g recent deal between Russia & India just shows how important Russia is for India its just not the other way around as S400 there is no equivalent to it so India has chance to buy that similarly T-50 PAKFA again what is the alternate so Indian`s are in no position to black mail Russia .Russia has great interest in Pak by that mean check the ongoing visits of some ex soviet estates to Pakistan which are still under influence to Russians.China & Russia mark my words need Pakistan so desperately that they will go any point to secure, supply and even Veto any aggression against Pakistan .Its just we need to play our cards right .

RD 93 is not the best Russian engine so Russia might be convinced to give us the technology for this engine if we try hard enough. Besides Chinese engines are also an option.

Its not about the best or worst. its suitable for JFT class thats why its used and PAF is fairly happy with it. if you wana say that we should have sukhoi enignes in JFT then its a wrong move because of aircraft weight class.

Chinese engine is also same and untested even. only 10% more thrust is said to be provided by chinese engine.
