Pakistan says Kashmir not its part, people there should decide

No. Solving the Kashmir dispute means the end of Army dominance in the Pakistani political space.

i think indians are not intrested to solve the issue while the pakistanis are desprite....and there may be pressure on pakistan by americans...

there is another possibility that pakistan want to solve the issue before usa leaves pakistan alone once again.....

Well india has offered to solve Kashmir by considering the LOC as the IB,and that was fair too.You have your share, we have ours.

Musharff is coming out with solutions which were rejected by India before, its just a hogwash by Muahraff to turn the attention. It might work in Pakistan but not with us.

brother considering loc as ib is no solution at all..kashmirs are the right persons to decide the solution and india should accept it as nehroo accepted and promised for a poll...

all other options will be unfair to kashmiris

That's very short sighted.

Kashmiris already hate India because they have separated Kashmir, we'd be the same target once we do something like that. Why should the Kashmiris give their land half to India and half to Pak?

That plan is insanely unfair.

A beautiful article by Irfan Siddiqui. For those who dont understand urdu it highlights the various issues that Mush has taken U-turns on and how he has weakened our stance on all these issues.

Come, come, it is not India that has divided Kashmir. What do you call Northern Areas and Azad Kashmir entities? Thats what is called a division.

There is no other choice. None of the nations can with stand acceeding land to the other and J&K cannot be economically independent, as it has to depend on either India or Pakistan, which will again lead to a race for influence over the region between Indoa and Pak.

Pray tell, What did we get so far with our tough stance? We have been insisting on 1948 UN resolution and plebscite for the last 58 years but to what avail?? India just makes two finger sign at us and dares us to what whatever we can; and we lost half the country in the bargain. That is what our tough stance has gotten us!

It hurts me very deeply at the the injustice of it all. India is becoming more powerful by the day, only time when perhaps we could have had a fight to the finish with a remote chance of success was in 1965; but our leaders lacked the guts.

Do you or Mr Irfan Siddiqui see a realistic chance of Pakistan taking Kashmir by force of arms or does any honourable member of this forum think that India is going to gift us Kashmir on a platter??. I am not a particular fan of Musharraf but I give him credit to at least think beyond the conventional solutions. Probably it will come to nothing as usual due to India's intransigence, but you can't blame Mushy for trying his best to find someway out.

As for Mr Siddiqui; India has hundrerds of billions in FE reserves because of its excellence in IT field which was achieved because South India spent a lot of time and effort on developing human resource. During 80's, when India was focussing on computer technology and IT, we had Zia and his bigots who were busy promoting sectarian outfits and interfering in Afghanistan's internal politics.

Mr Siddqui has not suggested what would have happened if we had not sided with the US??. Mr Siddqiui is trying to imply that Pakistan also would have had hundreds of billions if we had not made a U-turn!

A typical spin on the facts that most of right wing anti Musharraf journalists such as Mr Siddiqqui make a living off. My pity on such devious journalists and sympathy for the poor readers who have to swallow such hagwash day after day.

Just because we haven't been able to do it so far, doesn't mean we should give up. Are we a nation of quitters?

And Zia and his wahabbi gangs had nothing to do with Kashmir, that was because of our actions in Afghanistan and the Mujahideen.

we should not give up our stand. india will not do his part...they will not accept anything unless pakisatani kashmir...they will give you nothing..its their nature...
we have to do something else...

I'll keep it short: India is the boogeyman, Kashmir is the victim, Civilian Govt's are incapable so Army is the hero.

What the hell does that mean?

Kashmiris aren't a blood raven bunch of naked spear chucking Tamil negro savages selling their women to bombay pimps for wheystone money to kill their buddhist, christian or muslim neighbours. We are perfectly capable of deciding what's best for us, thank you very much.

You care so much about India, "Brahmin", do the entire subcontinent a favour. Deal with the hordes of Dravidians that are now filling your universities and army thanks to the socalist quotas and stick them in the reservations where they belong. Leave us Kashmiris be.

So much for being civil eh?

On the contrary Universities have a huge influx from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh & Bangalore whereas Army has a huge influx from almsot every state. The top heirarchy has traditionally been dominated by Sikhs (Hardly Brahmins).

Mushraff has himself stated there is no need for a referendum if the jt governance solution is accepted by india.

What was muhraff meaning when he said jt governance as a solution to the Kashmir issue?
