Pakistan says "almost all" Uighur militants eliminated

How did Uighur militants ended up in Pakistan in the first place?

Almost all members of the Uighur militant group the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) have been eliminated from Pakistan, the country’s president said on Wednesday during a visit to Beijing.

China blames violent unrest in its far western region of Xinjiang on separatist groups like ETIM, who it says want to set up an independent state called East Turkestan and have bases in countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Many foreign experts, however, have questioned whether ETIM exists as the coherent group China claims it is.

Meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping in the Great Hall of the People, President Mamnoon Hussain said a recent anti-terror operation codenamed Zarb-e-Azb “has been successful in eradicating the terrorism from our country”.

“It has also been very helpful in eliminating the ETIM element from our country and I think almost all the ETIM people in our country have been eliminated. Maybe, if they are there, there should be very few,” Hussain said.

China and Pakistan are “iron brothers” and always help each other “with great zeal”, he added. Hussain is in China to attend a military parade marking the 70th end of World War Two in Asia.

Hundreds have died in violence in Xinjiang in the past few years, blamed by Beijing on the militants. Rights groups say the real cause of the unrest is Chinese restrictions on the Islamic faith and culture of the Uighur people who call the region home.

China says ETIM recruits Uighurs who have gone to Turkey and trains them with extremist groups in Syria and Iraq, with the intent of returning to Xinjiang to wage holy war.

The ETIM is not a coherent group in China. In China, the splintered ETIM elements can only resort to lone wolf attacks in order to create unrest. And even then, it usually involves knives because they just can't get their hands on guns and explosives because of strict government control over firearms, chemicals and fertilizers.

Outside of China, the ETIM is actively involved in the Syrian civil war and insurgencies in both Afghanistan and the FATA in Pakistan, while these guys have sympathizers in their own political and charitable lobby called WUC.

The fact that the US and other western governments still havent fully recognized ETIM as a terrorist organization, shows the bias of western designations of some of the so-called ''terrorist'' groups. ETIM is just as much of a barbaric and savage group as Al-Nusra, Al-Qaeda and ISIL. As a matter of fact, ETIM, or TIP as it is called there, is even a recognized group within the Army of Conquest coalition!

Safe sanctuary.
There is good support base in Pakistan for Uighur militants or else the only surviving ETIM leader Abdullah Mansour wouldn't be risking himself by giving interview to media in NWFP.

In a rare but brief interview, Abdullah Mansour, leader of the rebel Turkestan Islamic Party, said it was his holy duty to fight the Chinese.

"The fight against China is our Islamic responsibility and we have to fulfill it," he said from an undisclosed location.

"China is not only our enemy, but it is the enemy of all Muslims ... We have plans for many attacks in China," he said, speaking in the Uighur language through an interpreter.

"We have a message to China that East Turkestan people and other Muslims have woken up. They cannot suppress us and Islam any more. Muslims will take revenge."

Mansour spoke on a crackly line using a mobile phone with an Afghan SIM card in a brief statement which gave Reuters no chance to ask about the Kunming attack.

The separatists hide mainly in the troubled North Waziristan region, where they are treated by their Pakistani Taliban hosts as guests of honor, militant and Pakistani intelligence sources say.

Either the FATA in Pakistan, or Afghanistan. Those were the 2 traditional hotbeds for islamic terrorist groups from all over the world. Somalia was briefly also a destination during the surge of Al-Shabaab and pirate activities in 2008-2010s. However, it is without a doubt that Syria and Iraq have recently become the #1 breeding grounds for every islamic extremist out there. The FATA has somewhat lost in popularity due to continuous Pakistani Army operations and American drone strikes.

GPS error........they were headed to India but ended up in Pakistan   :enjoy:
I was kinda expecting an answer, nevermind

Pakistan is getting better and very soon, in about a few months, there won't be any safe heavens, not even for Indian sponsored terrorists.

By the way, right now, India is the safest heaven for the Hindu terrorists, who've killed million over years from their minorities (Indian citizens to be precise). And these GOOD Hindu terrorists for people like you, run the Indian government and enjoy full protection and protocols provided by the Indian armed forces??? Now that's a state sponsored Hindu terrorist factory...

How many Christian and Muslims were murdered by the Hindu terrorists just this year? I think the number is pretty significant. Even Obama told you to stop the Hindu extremism if India would like to grow.
