Pakistan, Russia to cooperate in oil, gas, energy projects

MOSCOW: Pakistan and Russia have agreed to cooperate in oil and gas exploration and other transnational energy projects, including CASA-1000 and Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline.

During the third session of Pakistan-Russia Joint Working Group (JWG) on Energy, the Pakistani delegation — led by Ambassador to Russia Zaheer A. Janjua — also held meetings with major Russian energy firms, said a press release issued on Friday.

During the two-day (Nov 20-21) session, both countries expressed willingness to work together for construction of floating LNG terminals, gas pipeline from Gwadar to Nawabshah, LPG processing facility, gas purification plants, modernisation of infrastructure, innovative technology solutions in coal industry, and building and renovation of various power generating units in Pakistan, especially those of Russian origin.

Major Russian companies in the energy sector, including Technopromexport, Rostec-Global Resources, Rushydro International, Power Machines, Inter RAO, United Engine Corporation, and Stochinsky Institute of Mining participated in the discussions with the Pakistani delegation.

Pakistan wants to “transform the current cordial political relations with Russia into a long-term and substantive economic partnership, especially in the field of energy, for the mutual benefit of the two countries,” the release said.

Problem with u guyz is, u always try to strategies pure business acts. Business is done for earning moolah, not anything else.

In fact, I can challenge u that nobody wud invest in such multinational projects if India isn't involved. Otherwise, IP line wud have been a reality. Even, Iran want it IPI rather than IP only. As I said, its all bout business potential.

Please correct your records it is India who refuse because of US pressure and stated that it will go through Pakistan and at the same time it sign agreement for TAPI. What a lame excuse.

Nobody signed nothing. Its all bout economic sense. India wants security confirmation frm Pakistani side and whole world knows a stubborn Pakistan listens to only one master. Makes sense right?
