Pakistan Requests Bagladesh for Reducing Trade Deficit

Pakistan has presented three proposals to Bangladesh for reducing trade gap between the two countries.

The proposals are proper initiatives through Bangladesh-Pakistan Joint Economic Commission, joint intervention by the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and Pakistan High Commission, and enhancing activities between the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Afzaal Mahmood, Pakistan’s acting high commissioner to Bangladesh, placed the proposals at a meeting with the leaders of CCCI at its office in Chittagong. Pakistan can become a vital market for Bangladeshi ceramics and pharmaceuticals, he said.

He emphasised sending a business delegation, removing non-tariff barriers and reforming monetary exchange systems to further the cause, CCCI said in a statement. Mahmood expected that results can be achieved in this regard by proper implementation of the proposals.

Murad Ibrahim, CCCI president, informed the high commissioner about the plan of sending CCCI business delegation and participating in exhibitions in Pakistan to display Bangladeshi products. A direct shipping line between Chittagong and Karachi should be established in order to expand bilateral trade and business,” said M.A. Salam, director CCCI.

Salam added that Bangladesh-India bilateral trade has yielded good benefits under Safta and emphasised removing hurdles to gain the same with Pakistan. Other CCCI directors also spoke.

BD is one of the few countries with which PAK has a favorable trade surplus and I hope trade relation between the 2 countries
increases. Both our countries are in similar stages of development and JV between the 2 countries would be good way forward.

No offence Bro, but Pakistan is not in a condition to be "Brotherly" to other countries as of today.............
If you look closely, that's akin to giving credit or Aid you know, cause to reduce deficit, you either import more or export less..
